GT5 Delayed Again...

This news is almost as shocking as Mark McGwire's performance-enhancing drug use.

Heh, my wife is from StL and when they announced it she was shocked. I laughed...I don't really follow baseball but even I knew there was no way he wasn't juicing.

In Kazunori we trust. I am still a believer. If they manage to get Porsche into the game I promise I will buy a racing seat.

...I have to add--I played the recent demo that was released and I was so bored by the experience that I couldnt get through the first lap.

I do tend to like the more arcade-type of racers (like NFS:Shift), but I played previous Gran Turismos (1 & 2) and loved them. I dont know whats going on, but I suppose my taste in racers has changed?

Oh and I should also say, yes the graphics are stunning.

I'm living in STL for a project I'm on...and it is all over the news here...they take their baseball very seriously here.

This is certainly disappointing...although no so much for me since I still haven't bought a PS3...although this is one of the games that would definitely temp me to.

this news plus the awful demo (feels like the physics engine actually got worse since prologue) is pretty much the nail in this game's coffin for me.

Since they'll never finish the game if they try to do it all at once, they should just release content as they go along as DLC for GT5: Prologue. They could add new cars and eventually new game modes and stuff.

I do think they are doing this "wrong" as opposed to the method that Turn10 uses with Forza. Sure GT5 has prettier visuals...but it isn't out yet.

Instead Turn10 has been putting out a quality product with each iteration...and by the time GT5 comes out...the next Forza will be around the corner with likely better graphics and less bugs.

That was a technical demo.

okay...'technically' what part of the game was it supposed to be showing us? the graphics?

i would think a 'tech demo' of a racing game (a sim, no less) would showcase the driving physics.

forza3's demo wowed me with its simulation of driving. in that realm, the gt5 prologue and demo both fail somewhat with a wheel (change 'somewhat' to 'horrifyingly' if using a controller).

Yea, I'm kinda bored with sim racers in general. I rented Forza 3 last month, and I was actually falling asleep while racing! The thing is, I loved GT 1-4 and Forza 1 & 2, but something about Forza 3 bored the hell out of me. GT5P did the same thing, and I did one lap of the latest demo and I gave up.

The main problem for me, is all these games have the suggested line, and I feel like I need to keep it on, and in the end I never learn the track, so I keep it on. I preferred it when racing games didn't have the suggested line at all, that way I was FORCED to learn the track.

Not only that, the GT series had a nice progression to it. You started off with a really crappy car and built your way up slowly, but surely. It really felt like an accomplishment when you could finally pay for stage 3 turbo on whatever car you were using at the time. Forza starts out with a crappy car, but you never feel like you have save credits to buy a part. Not only that, you were constantly thrown new cars at you... I dunno, it's just not as fun as the older GTs.
