I just started playing this month, and I almost busted a nut just on the licenses. Managed to pass them all with 5 gold 27 silver and 48 bronze, and I'm at 31.7% complete but that Mission 34 scares me. I'll never have 100% but its a great game.

I think it's impossible when I am at about 50% too. But if you really want to do it, with enough practice, it's possible.

didnt the creators of GT4 come out with a new racing game for the ps2 as well? i saw a commercial for it.

and staying on topic, i almost punched my friend in the nuts because i kept on getting OVER time and i was oversteering too much. lol dont ask...i was really pissed off.

edit: cant spell.

Awesome game. I got it like 9 months ago, and I'm still at like <20% 😀 I tend to get hung up on the licenses, replaying each one over and over until I get silver. BTW the Logitech DFP is necessary IMO, especially if you even want to look at the Nurburgring.

Tourist Trophy? Is it just the same as gran turismo with same game engine and all, but now on motorcycles? Looks like they even reused the tracks.

I think reusing the tracks is a good thing... those tracks are really accurate

GT4 is an amazing game, but by no means is it anywhere near the difficulty of a real racing sim. 😉
Try playing GTR with a six speed shifter and a clutch. Missing a revmatch on a heel and toe while downshift braking can make you spin out from an abrupt tranny braking.
Gas a bit too hard with your 600HP GT monster through a corner, and you'll spin out, like all real RWD cars with a lot of power.

I thought GTR was a lot easier to blast through then GT4(getting all Golds on all the licenses- HUGE PITA). They both flat out suck as racing games(GTR is far worse then GT4) though unfortunately.

No, all RWD cars with a lot of power don't snap out on you like they do in GTR, not even remotely close. In GTR the cars handle significantly worse then most 60s era muscle cars. Car racing 'sims' are built to be as difficult to control as possible, they are nothing at all like actually driving the cars. I don't know if they have patched it yet- but try starting off in second gear from a stop with the initial release. 600HP race cars can't handle this.....? I could do it without issue driving a sub 40HP Beetle on a steep incline.

I have to say I only played through GT4 to 81% complete- that's where I was at when Forza came out and after playing Forza you really can't go back to the horrible "racing" that is in GT4(all cars draw the exact same line, every lap, every race- even if one is a Camaro and the other is a Vitz). I was enjoying GT4 quite a bit prior to that, even raced the 24Hr of Nurburgring over and over until I got the right color for my Polyphony F1 car(silver and black 😀 ).

Polyphony needs to step out of the 90s, they need to implement AI, they need damage modeling and they need to actually get out and drive a few RWD cars a little bit more(there is no partial throttle for neutral behavior in a corner on RWD cars- understeer to snap oversteer). They also need to ditch the cars noone wants to drive. Picking up some licenses from the heavy hitters in the exotic industry may be a good idea too.

Wow, just wow. You obviously have no idea how GT cars handle in real life. Yes all GT RWD cars will snap out of you step on it. Even my 140hp miata will spin out of I put too much power to the wheels, let alone a 1200kg 600HP GT monster. These are very delicate machines, that's FAR harder to drive than your average 150HP FWD Accord that you're used to.
Above all, what you said about not being able to start the cars at 2nd gear makes me doubt that you've even played the game before. I can easily get the cars going in 6th gear from a stop, let alone 2nd gear.
GT4, on the other hand, was never meant to be as realistic as a true computer racing sim. Simply because no one would play it if it was that realistic. On top of that, it's impossible to accurately model the hundreds of models of cars, thus everything is watered down.
GT4 is another case of quantity over quality.
