Gt 750m Gaming limit

Fact: i m going to buy the new Alienware Monitor 240hz + the new Alienware Keyboard + the new Alienware Mouse.



Fact: i m goin to use my small laptop with gt 750m gpu as powerhouse


Fact: this sucks


What kind of gaming performance am i going to have ?

Why? That won't end well. 750m is a decent 1080p60 GPU at medium-low settings.

1080p240hz is 1080 ti terroritory and you need a highly overclocked CPU and the fastest DDR4. I have a 1080p180hz monitor and it is far more hardware intensive than when I game at 4k60!

It s just the only gaming pc i can use in these days
A small laptop with 4700mq and gt 750m
Gpu apart it s perfect : 16gb ram , big ssd, big hd

What games are you playing? The 750m is respectable, but not exactly modern...

I think the biggest single obstacle in your path is that your laptop likely won't transmit a 240Hz signal externally in the first place. I mean, you'd have to try it to be certain, but it's unlikely that the 750m display chipset can support an external display beyond 120Hz even if you have the correct ports. Have you tested it beyond 60Hz? Likewise, you definitely won't get G-Sync because NVIDIA doesn't support it for the 750m. I think that display would be a waste to use with that laptop...

I only play Heroes of the storm at this moment, but what you say it s true:
no gsync, and probably only 120hz on 1080p

If you have DisplayPort, then there may be hope for 240Hz output, but you're very unlikely to get 240 frames per second on any game unless it's really old, low resolution (720p), or amazingly optimized.

Looking at your signature, you should be using that 240Hz G-Sync monitor on your desktop!

sadly my desktop is in another house (in the country) !

and there s another reason, but it s a little fancy: my desktop setup has a different design style.

It sounds like your laptop can do 1080p240hz over mini display port.

The big problem is getting the 240fps.
High fps gaming is brutal on a laptop's CPU and GPU. Your temps will be crazy high if your GPU can actually drive 240fps as your CPU usage will be 100% basically.

I would suggest monitoring temperatures via Rivatuner as well using Throttlestop to cap the CPU's clockspeed to prevent throttling.

Depending on the game, you may be able to get above 100 fps at very low CPU clocks. This may let you overclock the GPU (750m has immense overclocking headroon via MSI afterburner) and find a good performance balance.
