ok guys i need your help..... specifically your opinions, advises or solutions if that's possible on this.....

my older card, the one i had before my crossfire setup was a XFX 9600 GT with 1 gb video mem., 256 bit memory bandwidth and was GDDR3. it ran on slot power.

anyways i sold it to a friend of mine. he was using it on a core i3 system with a 450 watt power supply. now he began to have issues with it about a month ago. i posted the issue in this thread: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2184183&highlight=

now ultimately i had to send it to get it serviced under warranty. now it's been one month and the staff at the place which i gave this card at for servicing hasn't returned my card. but today when i talked to them they said an issue on their side has come up which is that since that particular xfx 9600gt model has been discontinued, they'll be sending me a xfx 4350 hd card to which i said i won't accept it at all as the card is nowhere equivalent to the 9600 gt i had.. i told them that i'll only take something which equivalent. so they said the best they can provide me with is a XFX GT 520 which almost has everything similar to my 9600 gt but a memory bandwidth of "just" 64 bit which is really concerning me... i had to say yes because if i hadn't i knew things would only be delayed further.

so just tell me how much impact would my friend have when he uses this card? especially when we keep direct x 11 off and even on directx9 or 10 keep the settings tweaked between medium and low.

guys there's an issue .....lately XFX has dropped making gfx cards based on nvidia chipsets .....so GT 430 is out of the question ......now please in the ati/amd series suggest me a card that, if not provides me with 100% performance of 9600 Gt, will atleast give me around 70% performance of that card.....

Why are you going through all this trouble. For a 9600 I can easily find on the street or in a trash bin.

Just ask them to send a similar graphic card cuz I don't think they have your friends 9600 card. Ask them is there another card you can give with same performance etc. Get a 9700GT which I dont think exists.... I doubt they would give a 9800 GT . lol gl

Yeah, their obligation is to repair your card or send you an equal or greater card, not the other way around.
9600gt equivalents:
8800GS
3850
3870

slightly better
8800gt
9800gt

slightly worse(if you really want to let them pull that ;) )
5570
4670
