Gskill RAm not running at rated clocked speed

I just put in two sticks of this RAM:

It's rated at 4-4-4-12 clock speed, but when I check under CPU-Z program, it says 4-4-4-10. I checked my bios settings and my FSB is at 400mhz and multi is at 8 and CPU says I am running at 1:1 fsb:ram timings. Memory voltage is at 2.1V. Do the indicated settings look right or do I need to adjust something?

Also, I have an extra stick of 4-4-4-12 Corsair (1gig). Can I put that in as well for total of 3G's or can they only be put in as pairs? I know mixing brands of ram is not kosher, but thought I'd as k cause I have the stick kicking around. thanks.
 
1) You need to enter the BIOS, go to Jumper-Free Configuration, set the "Configure DRAM by SPD" option to "Disabled" and then set your timings manually ( at least the "main marketing timings" )
Your RAMs timings are:
CAS Latency ( tCL ) 4
RAS to CAS Delay ( tRCD ) 4
RAS Precharge ( tRP ) 4
Min RAS Active Time ( tRAS ) 12

Actually even if you don't set those timings, you ain't losing a thing, as real-life performance doesn't change just by changing tRAS from 10 to 12. ( oh, just noticed, that you are running tRAS 10 which is better than their defaults, which is 12 ) [ not that it matters like I said already 😀 ]

As for mixing the RAM...it's all about "luck"...you need all the sticks to be compatible with your motherboard, and the "luck" of 'compatibility between' the modules.
You have to try to see if it's ok or not.

By the way, where did you check for your timings in CPU-z ? Because if you're talking about the "SPD" tab, then that's not what you're currently running, that's the SPD information ( can explain later on if you want me to ).
The timings and RAM information for your current config can be found in the "Memory" tab.
[ note that the memory frequency shown in CPU-z is the 'real operating frequency', which is half the 'effective frequency' due to DDR technology.
So if CPU-z reports that your RAM is running at 400MHz, then it's where it should be, as 400MHz real operating frequency 'equals' to DDR2-800 rating 😉 ]
 
Thanks. I 'll go into the bios and change, but sounds like it isn't necessary. I did look under the memory tab in CPU, which is where I got the timings. I'll stick the extra 1G of Corsaid in and see what happens. I know my mobo is compatible with the mem, as I was using it recently.
 
Well I stuck the Corsair 1G stick in and seems to be running ok so far. I noticed the timings changed back to 4-4-4-12, which is what the Corsair ran before. With just the Gskill, I was running 4-4-4-10. Either way , I have 3G total. We'll see how stable it is.
