Gskill PC6400 DDR2 owners come in

So what is wrong with these pieces of shite....

I cannot get prime95 to pass at 3.2ghz with very relaxed timings, ample vdimm 2.0-2.3v at speeds below 800mhz....My lowly patriot PC4200 cl4 sticks passed at same speed and timings...

I am using DS3 board with latest F6 bios.....

I think I have one bad stick for sure...It wont boot the board at all if in the slot 1...if in slot 2 I get errors until removed....

Also these crap sticks require 2.2v with this board to even boot aand that is at 533mhz speeds...

I am going to RMA them and then sell them and get real sticks!!!

Embarassing when cheapo patriot pc4200 sticks are bitch-slapping the gskills...I can get them stable as high as 720ddr2 at cas 5-6-6-17...

I get 15sec superpi 1M score at 3.24ghz...I can run them still at 3.33ghz and get 14sec time, but not stable....

Gskills are not even stable 3.1ghz with same relaxed timings and more voltage

I have them and they work great. They do like > 2.0V though but no problems posting at board defaults. (Asus P5WDG2 WS Professional)

Your signature says 4-4-4-12 - the ram should be run at 4-4-4-14 per spec and that's what I've specified in the BIOS.

Aren't there several flavors of PC6400 from G-Skill? Which one is yours?

Unfortunately, the Gigabyte boards are rather picky on RAM.

OCZ and G.Skill are the two brands with the most issues.

The sig is just showing my components..............It is not the current state of my OC as I just finally put this system together Friday evening.....


I have the dreaded Zx's....and they say 4-4-4-12 right on the white label on the sticks themselves....


regardless of all of this one of the sticks is definitely bad....tried 2 different boards and it wont boot in the slot 1 no matter what....Also in the 2nd or 3rd slot it will produce errors...

here is to hoping they send me some HZ's in replacement...they have for some...

You know what they sure do! I'm running 4-4-4-14. Does that make much difference?

There's a Gskill forum over on the forums at xtremesystems.com. There's a member there that is a Gskill rep. You may want to post there if you have trouble. Supposedly their service is good. Fortunately I have not had to use it.

Yes get some HZ's if you can, its the only decent DDR2 memory from G.Skill ATM. My sticks are sweet, DDR2 900 at 2.1v 4-4-4-12. I can run them at 4-4-4-5 but they perform slightly worse in super pi.

I know these can go further, but at 1:1 i am limited to the boards 450FSB. I need to learn which way up to hold the soldering iron and crack on with some MCH volt modding

The ram runs HOT! Next the the X1900XTX "blast furnace" it's the hottest thing in the box. Does adding a duct or fan to provide them with active cooling allow them to run faster? I'm sure the SOA is much greater than what they would run in most cases. :Q

Guys trust me on this one....

My ram spreaders are not even hot...I have a large fan blowing on them and the NB...the NB is luke warm at best and my cpu temps are only hitting low 40's with dual F@H running at 3.24ghz w/ 1.36v actual.,...

heat is not my issue....

stable on my pentium D 930 @ 4.1Ghz.
