hey gsethi, i had some questions about dram ratio's on the ga-8iexp. please post in here or email me at mle@wharton.upenn.edu ... i dont' know how else to get ahold of you. my problem is i can't find the 2.66 multiple option. my bios tells me i can only do 1.5 ,2, or auto =\

Hmm....What kind processor are you using ? Are you using the "A" class (400 Mhz FSB) or "B" class (533 Mhz FSB) processor.

if you are using the "B" class, then i dont think that you can get the 2.66 ratio. If you are using the "A" class, then change the FSB in your BIOS to 100 Mhz...and then save and reboot. On next reboot, go inside your BIOS and you should be able to see 2.66 ratio option in there. this worked with me with the "A" class processor. Dont know if it will work with a "B" processor since i dont have one.

hope that helps you.

thanks

you have to be kidding me. i bought the 2.26 just for the fact i could easily do 150fsb and kick the ddr to 400 with the simple 2.66 multiplier on the board. is there anyway to get around it? it said in the manual that it was possible, this blows. guess i can't return this now though, just wasted my money buying ddr400 ram. considering i'm limited to around ddr300. there is no way around that?

My board can use it, can I have it...........🙂 J/K

Do you have that multiplier at 133fsb? The FAQ implies that it does allow you DDR333 speed at 533 speeds.

i know that's what it implies, and that's one of the big reasons i picked this board. and no, i onyl get the 2x multiplier at 133fsb to get ddr266. if i could get that 2.66, then i could do 2.66x133 = ddr333 and then overclock the fsb and do 2.6x150 = ddr399 ... which was my goal from the start. at 133mhz fsb, i only get 1.5,2,auto for my multipliers.

i dont think that there is any other way around the problem unless you get a "A" processor instead of "B".

Check to see if your board has any jumpers to change the FSB from 133 to 100. I highly doubt that this board has one but still no harm in looking. Other than that, i dont think there is any other way.

just keep trying and maybe there is some other way. I would also try to underclock your system by changing the FSB to 100 Mhz...save that settings...reboot and then go into bios to see if you get the 2.66 option....(doubt it but you never know). If the option shows up...then select it..save and reboot and then go to bios again and then change the FSB back to 133 to see if the 2.66 option still stays or not. NOTE: This is just one of those trial n error thingy.

best of luck
gsethi
