GRUB and refresh rates

Does anybody know of a hack to change the refresh rate in the GRUB menu screen? It's only up for a few seconds, but they are annoying flicker-filled seconds. All I've found is how to hide the menu, but that defeats the purpose.

I would venture to say it's hard coded into the software, because it's just standard VGA. The problem is more likely your video card or monitor and grub just makes it more apparent.

Yep, pretty sure it is hard coded...interesting though... I will look and see if I can find anything (I don't use grub, but what the hey)

Now that I think about it, I can probably just remove those refresh rates from Xf86config or the drivers. Thanks for the replies.

Yes, I know. 🙂

The problem is that the NVidia drivers set the default refresh rate too low for my tastes at the resolution of the grub menu. That is the only place the problem arises for me, so I was looking for a quick fix for my lazy butt.
