Grrrrrr...I now hate Direct Connect

I don't know when the last time you used Direct Connect was, but they now have an advertisement near the top (much like the Anandtech one above), where if you roll over the ad with your cursor, it automatically opens your web browser and connects to the ad's webpage, regardless of whether or not you click on it. Now, every time you are looking for files, you have to make sure to steer clear of the stupid ad....Grrrr....

Hmm...ads changed and it no longer pops up. I think the popup only applies to the "Get Out of Debt" ad.

Hmm, have you ever tried blocking the url through your hosts file? I can't remember if it worked for me, i did it a while back.

Search and download the firewall AtGuard. Is a big pain to set up, but once you get through the setup, works great on ads, popups, etc.

I liked this program until the damn thing stopped responding to any of my searches. I tried reinstalling, still won't work. 'Tis frustrating...

If you have problems with searches and whatnot, make sure your IP didn't change, since you have to report it in the settings. It's happened to me many a time. ;-p Thing I don't like, is that DC seems to be a huge memory hog. I run a decent system too, so who knows.

DC rocks...and there is an app out there specifically created for DC that hides the ads bar...works great on a 14" lcd 800x600 🙂
