Tried to call her cell to remind her to pick something up while she was out. Lucky me, Vonage acted up, and I heard a ring, then a pause, then a ring, then a long pause, then nothing. I hung up, my phone rang with no CID, it was a dead line. I tried a few more times, same thing.

I tested a few other numbers, like my bank access and whatnot, seemed fine. Spent 15-20 minutes tweaking my router settings, VPA settings, all that jazz. Cursed Vonage a few times, then called their tech support. Got a guy in under a minute, he was from India, yay! Told him what was going on, that I couldn't call a number, that the calls weren't showing up in my Dashboard, their system sucked, etc. He put me on hold, and transferred me to "Dave", who also, was from India. He checked a few things, then said he'd try my wife's number. I said sure, he put me on hold.

Then, the damndest thing happened. My call waiting kicked in, with a call from Vonage!

She set her phone to forward to the Vonage number, which was set to forward to her cell in case of power failure. Apparantly every time I tried to call her phone, a wicked awesome phone forwarding orgy would ensue, leading to me calling myself.

"Dave" came back on the line, told me that the phone just rang and rang, then paused, then rang again. He was pretty sure he knew what was going on, and told me in the most polite way he could that I was a moron, and to stop forwarding phones to each other then calling them. I explained that I didn't know that my wife had set her phone up like that, and he proceeded to explain to me how to login to my web account and disable call forwarding. Around this time I decided that I needed to swear some more, so I thanked him for his time, and hung up.

So yay, I'm an idiot, I never got ahold of my wife, and after being awake for close to 24 hours need some sleep. The worst part was it wasn't even Vonage's fault after all!

Cliffs for the lazy:
1) My phone is forwarded to my wife's
2) Hers is forwarded to mine
3) I called her
4) Phone self-gratification!
5) ......
6) Sticky profit.

I dont know whats up with vonage. My friend just got on with them and anytime I try to call him, I get both him answering the phone AND his voicemail asking me to leave a message, simultaneously. Huh??

Not but he could put, "Guy from india told me I couldn't call my wife because of some orgy that I didn't know about."

Just enough in the cliffs to want to make you read the whole story.

And you still hate Indian tech support despite you and your wife being dumber than they are and despite them being nice and helpful to you.

Where did I ever say I hated them? They tend to be woefully undertrained for whatever product/service they're supporting, this guy actually knew enough to figure out what was happening though. I just thought it was funny that his name was supposedly "Dave", even though he was obviously in India.

Yes, I also hate Indian/foreign tech. I don't hate the people, it's just that the great majority (emphasizing "great") they don't understand me or vice versa. They generally don't know what they are doing either.

Agreed. I want American reps( or at least fluent English-speaking ones), because I don't speak Indian or whatever language they speak. Their attempts at English, in my experience, are terrible and despite my best efforts I simply cannot understand them. I always have to keep asking for different reps. In the past, I've had unintelligible reps from India named Dave, Mike, Tom, Rob, and Steve. How perfect is that.

That's 21 minutes lost that could have been spent looking at nudie mags, drinking beer, furiously wanking, drinking beer, watching football, drinking beer, sleeping, or drinking beer.

His time was most assuredly wasted.
