I have a Panny Digital receiver... so far so good. :)

On topic, this is why I didn't get a LCD projection TV... too many parts to go wrong. I love my Westinghouse LCD TV. No bulb!

I had a Quantex-branded 19" monitor that just died on me this year, after seven years of faithful service. It had a Hitachi tube.
Quantex :D:D:D I was still using one of their cases until last year :p

Correction, I'm still using it, just as my secondary machine ;)

Heh, my Quantex case is housing what will be my file server as soon as I upgrade my main PC's CPU and HDD :p

And my Quantex case was recently demoted to gather dust in the garage! It was serving as my guinea pig for case mods.

If I were in front of you now you'd recieve a severe flogging.

I've got the 50LC14 and hope it never happens to me!

At least Panasonic is willing to replace your unit out of warranty. That's pretty much unheard of.

In a recent Consumer Reports magazine article, Panasonic had the highest repair rate of the TV brands they polled. To be fair, the article specifically stated that this was TV's in general (mostly CRT-type), and not necessarily indicative of HD TV repair rates. Still, Panasonic had significantly higher repair rates than any of the other brands.

It sounds like you need a Monster A/V power surge supressor (high end) or some kind of UPS system to regulate your electricity, maybe both.

I have been using a UPS and surge protector. The repair store said this model has a design flaw which is why they keep fixing it out of warranty. Fortunately, I learned my lesson with Sony and bought a 5 year extended warranty just in case. I haven't hit them up on it but will if this Panasonic thing doesn't pan out. Panasonic has been good to me though. My Panasonic wet/dry razor conked out on me twice and on the second repair, they gave me a brand new one.

Sounds good. I always deny the Extended Warranty Plans because I thought they were jokes. I purchased some TVs and said heck with the EWP's because I wasn't going to move it anywhere after I set it down. Usually, when TVs are faulty - its only in the first year of activity. Most of my CRT's are 2-3yrs old now.

Are EWP's really worth it? They promise you service - like we will go to your house and adjust the brightness, contrast, etc... but sometimes, it doesn't make sense.

I haven't used it yet because Panasonic apparently extended my warranty. If it doesn't work out, I will try the store's. I didn't have an extended warranty for my Sony so my whole investment was lost. I won't make that same mistake again.
