Myself and 3 friends want to go to the OSU vs Michigan game in Nov. I have been looking on ebay for a couple of weeks ago and found a dutch aution for 4 tickets. I emailed the seller, which is from NYC, and wanted to know how the dutch auction worked. He said that I could purchase all 4 tickets for 850, but he would only accept western union or moneygram. I just asked to see some pictures of the tickets just to make sure. The guy has 45 feedbacks, One negative from 2003. I would just hate to see my money, along with all my friends disappear if this guy isnt legit. Is there anything I could do as far as protecting myself with these tickets? Thanks

EDIT:
I am so fvcking sick of ebay scammers. I have already ran into 5 different sellers that are trying to pull this scam. I dont know if the accounts have been hacked or what. They all have anywhere from 50 to 250 feedback, everything with paypal, but with the tickets, everyone magically won't take it. GRRRRR. I even had one guy emailed me almost the exact same thing, I questioned it and caught him dead in his tracks. I hate ebay at this point </rant>

Sucks for these people then who acuatly pay this guy the money. I am still waiting on the pictures, he said he was in a hurry. Auction closes in like 3 hours. Am I correct when I say if someone wins a partial quanity on ebay, ie (1 instead of 4) they dont have to purchase the item? I am a newbie to this whole dutch auction thing. Thanks

Got to watch out for people hijacking seller's accounts. I'm aways leery when I see a person
who has an auction for a high dollar item and they haven't been active in a long time.

My friend had his eBay account hacked and someone was trying to sell final four tickets.

I guess it's a common scam :)

1. never use western union or moneygram since they are harder to prove and offer little for protection.

2. With ebay's greed they can remove negative feedback for cash so feedback tends to be a problem unless they have over a couple of hundred. But if they have that many and no negative feedback something is fishy.

Couldn't you use ticket master or such for a better deal or insurance issues?

Just curious, I saw this pic months ago and have always wondered what, from Compaq, needs that big of a box?

So the whole fact that the seller isn't even living anywhere near either university didn't tip you off?

We used to have them at staples and i have no clue why the box is so big, its just a 17inch crt in there with the cpu. Somoene did try and steal one from the other staples here in town. I think they almost made it out but the manager stoped them. It would be a bitc h to get that into any car though.

I feel like reporting everyone of these scammers to ebay. One guy "Patrick Banzer" is running two auctions at once, one from indiana, the other from illnois, selling different tickets. I told him that I was going to alert ebay. If you are going to try and scam me, at least change your name. I did find some penn st tickets that look legit and the guy takes paypal but I am still worried about sending any money even through paypal. ARGGGGHHH.

Just got contacted AGAIN from patrick banzer, on a different account. The seats of course are in the same section, different row everytime. This guy is going to die. This time I was smart and just sent him an email saying that I would send payment tomorrow morning via western union, hopefully I can get an address or anything. I alerted ebay and have been emailing anyone bidding on these tickets to get them to retract bids. If I do get this guys address or number, any ATers from Chicago should hunt down this TROLL!

Huh? How do you even know the race of the scammer? Most of them are European/Russian anyway..

Classy man. So not being racist against black people makes you a treehugger?:thumbsdown:
