So today my son and I are on the way home from the mall. He had to go to the bathroom really bad. Of course the road we were on was extremely busy and gas stations were few and far between. Finally I found one after listening to my son tell me how he was ready to explode. We run into the place and ask where the bathroom is. The teenage girl working behind the counter couldnt seem to pull her ear away from the phone. So I stepped closer and repeated myself, asking where the bathroom was. Still no answer. Her friend came out of nowhere and said they didnt have a bathroom. I gave a puzzled look and asked if she was sure. Nope, no bathroom. Well by this time my son is literally hopping up and down he has to go so bad. The girls couldnt have cared less. We hurried out the door to hopefully find a place for him to go in time.

We didnt. Big mess. Steam cleaning will have to be involved soon.

I am seriously debating on writing the corporate HQ of that place. There are laws that say you have to let customers use your bathroom, and this is a good example of why those laws are there. I am seriously steamed right now!!!

It's not the responsibility of everyone else in the world to take care of your son's bladder. Maybe she was rude, but it's not her fault your son can't hold it.

I'd love to see a law like that, especially about gas stations. I really doubt such a law exists. Even if it does, you have to actually buy something to be a customer.

What do laws about having to let customers use your bathroom have to do with anything? They didn't have a bathroom...

The law is part of the ADA. My son is a diabetic, his blood sugar was extremely high. When someone with diabetes' blood sugar gets high, they have to pee. He held it for nearly 20 minutes before we found that gas station.

Why'd you have to ASK where the bathroom was? You should have just looked around inside and found it, or let your son pee in back of the building.

Sucks. It was very uncourtious of the store to dot hat, but, I don't think there are any laws that require use of a bathroom to customers, and even if there was, well, you didn't even buy anything.

I don't know about that law, but I do that they probably have an employee restroom they should have let him use... oh well

In GA it depends if your want your business's name on the exit sign or not. If you do, you are forced to allow people to use your restroom without buying anything

I really thought about it, but it was a very busy road and there were apartments behind the gas station.

Kid probably could have held it longer if it werent for the swiss cheese that we call roads around here.

I've never had any kind of store tell me that my kid or I (when I was pregnant...you have no idea how small a pregnant woman's bladder is) couldn't use the restroom (except once at the Post office, and only because they were too swamped to have someone escort us to the potty). I just ask where the bathroom is and explain that my little kid needs to go and that small children just can't hold it very long (in other words, if you refuse, my kid will piss on your floor and you get to mop, not that I ever had to get that graphic.)

he really did want to just whip it out...but I told him to hold it. I could just see a cop pulling up while my seven year old is peeing not 50 feet from a major street....

I peed on the side of an industrial office building once. At 11PM.

My sister still has pictures. :(

And he would do nothing. What's he gonna do, charge a diabetic 7 year old with a public urination because he had to go and couldn't find a bathroom? Charge a 7 year old with indecent exposure?
Come on. Think.

You must not know the cops around here.

My son has never had an accident like this before. But then again no one has ever told him he couldnt use the bathroom either.

Why you backed down I have no idea. Nothing would deter me if my 6 year old had to go. And you are "thinking" about writing a letter. That's lame. Call the corporate office and speak to the highest up suit you can. Not only will those douche bag skanks get fired, but you'll probably get some free shite too.
