My netgear MR814 router is dropping my connection every hour or so (both my wired and wireless connections). The only way to get back online is to reset the thing by unplugging it - what can be causing this? I reset my cable modem as well but it seems to be working fine... Should I just RMA the router or is something else going on here?

Thanks!
PS, I've flashed it to the newest firmware

This happens to be whenever Adelphia is screwing around with their equipment. I usually give it a few minutes and just click reset then it all comes back. This usually goes on for a few days then it's fine for months. It ALWAYS happens when Adelphia is messing around.

I don't see how it could be the cable company (time warner)- if it was a cable issue wouldn't resetting the cable modem fix the outage and not resetting the router? I haven't touched my modem in weeks- the router is what always needs to be reset.

I've been having the same problem freedom. Have a MR814 and it drops its connection every so often.

go to http://kbserver.netgear.com/kb_web_files/n101208.asp

they say that this problem may be with viruses trying to make too many connections to the router.

However, I checked my computer for viruses (updated, using AVG) and it came out clean and yet it still loses connection. Maybe it might be other wireless comps connecting to my router. I am going to turn off wireless and see what happens.
