Grr... Mouse lag

Does anyone know why my mouse movement lags when I play a 3D game? This only occurs in 3D games. Diablo, Starcraft, and other non-3D games work fine with no mouse lag detectable. How can I fix this?

Maybe you should give us a little more information. Its pretty hard to figure things out with such a vague question. It could be anything. What kind of mouse, what drivers, what cpu/videocard etc.

No, PS/2 mouse. My USB mouse is back in my dorm room =) Anyway, since you asked for specs, here they are:

Duron 800
Abit KT7 mobo
256 PC133 RAM
30.0 gig 7200 RPM
ASUS GeForce2 MX 32 meg
No Sound

And right now I'm using the basic Microsoft Mouse. 2 Buttons and a wheel.

Mouse lag is directly related to low framerates. Run some timedemos of the games in which you have problems and post the results back to us. It may be that you have to tweak the games to get them to run faster.

I'm having the same problem with 3d games. Framerates are not an issue, they're flying!

When I look with the keyboard, everything is smooth, but when I mouse look, it's real jerky.

I get Lag with my Intellimouse Explorer occassionally, especially in UT. It isn't framerate related and goes away when i reboot. Damned annoying though

That does sound like a framerate issue If you had enough frames, the faster mouselook would be smooth. Its very easy to have a smooth keyboard look as roration is so slow.

I'm using a GeForce DDR and a Pentium III 933. Framerate really isn't an issue...

It used to work, then I upgraded motherboards...now I have the problem in 3d games...2d games and windows work fine.

I've tried a new mouse and it's not the problem.

Um, maybe it's related to the amount of times your ps2 mouse is reporting it's position persecond? I have mine set to 200/s Thank god for Logitech. =)

What resolutions are you guys playing at? Lowering the video resolution will most likely fix your mouse lag.

The rate changer has worked somewhat in fixing the problem...but it's still there.

The problem is there no matter what the resolution.

The problem goes away when using a USB mouse.
