so I used to have a lot of Botias in my tank growing up, then I stopped seeing them in stores...finally found 2 today...walked away from tank, came back about an hour later and one was on the floor :(....but it's a botia...I remember my father finding one that had jumped and was dry as a bone years ago....it must've been out of the tank for about an hour, he ran it under the faucet and it started breathing, so he put it back in the tank and it recovered. Did the same with this one...put it in the tank...few seconds later I can see it's heart beating, now it's gills are moving...I hope it makes a full recover...I like botias :( The other one would be lonely all by itself :(

Update: well it's still lying at the bottom of the tank, breathing, heart beating, mouth wide open, not moving...but it's in a different part of the tank....not sure how it moved as I was out of the room

Yeah, I remember my fish would sometimes jump out of the tank... so, I made sure everything was covered, and never had the problem again. Usually the only fish that ever jumped out on me were neon tetras.

A long time ago one of my friends had a rather large tank with a very big Oscar in it. This fish was bigger than a DVD case. It was also extremely strange in the fact that it was social. It liked people, not everyone, but it definitley got agitated if you did not come over to the tank and interact with it. This fish used to jump right out of the tank and land in my lap when I was sitting on the couch next to the tank. The first time I thought it was a fluke but this happened over and over again. My friend told me the fish liked me. I have no idea where the truth lies in this but it was a rather odd occurance.

I had that happen to me a week ago!

I have a betta fish, and because it's so cold up here, I put in some warm water in his bowl.

Turns out my perception of 'warm' was 'fvcking hot' to the fish. Moments later, I was startled to hear the crazy splashing my fish was making. It was trying its hardest to jump out of the bowl. I had to quickly change the water before it was suffucated of heat.

yah, I'm trying to figure out how it jumped! I have a neon light and hood over the tank, and at the back I have it coverd with a mesh...it must've jumped up into the water return on my filter then jumped I guess? So i covered the filter too now

I would've acted completely calm and started to pet the fish. That's some real love. That's like me suddenly jumping into a fvcking lake just to pat a fish while drowning.

pick the fish up and move it forward like it was swimming. this pushes water past the gills and gives it more oxygen. it may revive faster if you do this.
