i just used driver cleaner and completely removed all my ati drivers and reinstalled the omega 3.4.. it did absolutely nothing.. the AA/AF still doesn't work...

ati drivers are really pissing me off..

.. is nvidia wdm my nforce2 drivers?
Yes, your NFORCE2 board uses nvidia drivers. Have you read the install notes and readme files with ANY hardware you're installing?

of course i know my nforce2 board uses nvidia drivers...
but i wanted to know if it used just the drivers labeled nvidia, or are the nvidia wdm drivers also for nforce2, and maybe not some left over drivers for a video card, because i had a geforce3 in my comp before i reinstalled windows..

well anyone have any ideas on how to solve my issue here?
anyone here using windows server 2003, and also have an ati radeon 9500/9700/9800?

Since you're using an unsupported OS, make sure the basics are covered...Chipset drivers, Latest DX (DX9a) and a stable system before installing the drivers, maybe post at Rage3D forums to see if there are issues with Catalyst and Windows Server 2003.

if it is my os... why doesn't the problems happen to all drivers?

why does AA/AF works on 3.2, and not on 3.4?

that's why i think it must be just the drivers...

*sigh*
damn every single fricken ati card I ever gotten had TONS of driver problems... radeon le, radeon ve, radeon 8500, radeon 9500, and now radeon 9700pro

With 3.4's does aa not work even after restarting the computer? Can you search the registry to see if its enabled? Set aa to 2X and af to 16x quality.
Search the registry for OGLAnisoType, OGLFullSceneAAScale, and OGLMaxAnisotropy. They should have a value of 2, 2, and 16.

Why do keep getting ATI cards?

viper... ok i see now... i went to the wrong place..

ok everything is either a 0 or a 1...

so i guess ati's control panel isn't working at all for AA/AF settings...

grrr...

Why do keep getting ATI cards?
because people kept reassuring me that ati's driver problems were a problem of the past.

ok i changed the AA/AF settings in the registry and it works now.. fricken ati control panel doesn't work.. grrr

well now back to my original problem... the open gl IQ is still horrible!!

You're sure that you are using the proper version control panel with you driver version? And you are using ATI drivers on a "Built buy" rather than the reference drivers for third party pro card? You have DirectX9a installed, and the latest AGP driver for your MB? and you've eliminated your Power supply as the culprit?

I'd have to guess it's a Win2K3 thing. Not a supported OS.

Search the registry for

OGLMaxAnisotropy
OGLAnisoType

OGLEnableFastFullSceneAA
OGLFullSceneAAScale

Do the values match your control panel settings?

virtualgames0,

In the OpenGL section of the ATI Control Panel make sure that 'Texture Preference' is set to high quality. It's set one notch lower by default.

the control panel i'm using is the one on ati's website when i went to download the drivers.. there was two links, one for the drivers, and one for the control panel...
control-panel-7-88-030430m-008946c-efg.exe <- that is the control panel i'm using.

Search the registry for

OGLMaxAnisotropy
OGLAnisoType

OGLEnableFastFullSceneAA
OGLFullSceneAAScale

Do the values match your control panel settings?

did that in the above posts... doesn't match... 🙁

maybe you need a new motherboard
i don't think abit nf7-s has any known compatibility issues with ati cards.. my PSU is enermax 431, so that should be sufficient.
yes i have dx9a installed, and i installed my nvidia nforce2 driver pack right after i installed windows.

In the OpenGL section of the ATI Control Panel make sure that 'Texture Preference' is set to high quality. It's set one notch lower by default.
there is no texture preference setting in the older 3.2 control panel.. however there is in the 3.4 control panel, and it doesn't work.

i went to both links, they just teach you how to convert windows server2003 to something more like winxp and did not help me solve my opengl problems..

I think you may be out of luck with Win2K3. Is there any reason you have to run it instead od 2K/XP? I'm not very familiar with 2K3....never looked at it.

Did you try to set the values in the registry? This would be OpenGL set to quality (4XAA 16XAF)

"OGLEnableKTXBufferRegion"=dword:00000000
"OGLForceZBufferDepth"=dword:00000000
"OGLWaitVerticalSync"=dword:00000002
"OGLEnableFastFullSceneAA"=dword:00000000
"OGLFullSceneAAScale"=dword:00000004
"OGLMaxAnisotropy"=dword:00000010
"OGLLODBias"=dword:00000000
"OGLTextureOpt"=dword:00000000
"OGLTruformMode"=dword:00000000
"OGLAnisoType"=dword:00000002

These are HEX numbers. Be sure you set values as hex, not decimal.

Have you contacted ATi tech support to see if they can help you?

As to texture preference, I thought it was an option since the card debuted?

An unconstructive comment in regards to this thread, but it must be said anyway: You can't blame ATi if you're using their card with an unsupported OS (and in an OC'ed system, but I'm assuming your only OC'ing the CPU, not the memory or busses, so it's probably not an issue).

yes i did change the settings in the control panel, as i have stated in my previous posts.. you would know if you read them
when i change the settings in the registry.. the AA/AF will work

Ah,. didn't notice you were running 2k3. Well, can't blame ATI's drivers, I've had the 9700 since they came out and haven't had any major problems. Also, the texture preference has been there since the beginning. All control panels have it. Good luck.
