Group Department Stores into 5 Tiers

If you could group department stores into five tiers, how would you group them?

Here is how I would do it:

High-end:
Bloomingdale's
Nordstrom
Lord & Taylor
Neiman Marcus
Saks Fifth Avenue

Middle-High:
Macy's
Dillard's
Belk (flagship stores)

Mid-Range:
JCPenney
Kohl's
Belk (standard stores)

Middle-Low:
Sears

Low-End:
Walmart
Target
Kmart

Places I've never stepped foot in in my life:
Bloomingdale's
Nordstrom
Lord & Taylor
Neiman Marcus
Saks Fifth Avenue
Belk (flagship stores)
Belk (standard stores)

Places I haven't been to in the past year and probably never will again:
Macy's
Dillard's
JCPenney
Kohl's
Sears
Kmart

Places I haven't been to in the past year:
Target

Places I buy groceries but nothing else:
Walmart

Sorry, could only make it to four tiers.

I have similar to ironwing here, though I added "pants store" since I only buy pants and nothing else at one.

Too many to count

Places I haven't been to in the past 10 years and probably never will again:
Nordstrom
Carson Prarie Scott
JCPenney
Sears
Kmart
Younkers

Pants Store
Kohl's

Places to buy things when on road trips and we forgot deoderant or USB charger or whatever.
Walmart
Target

places i go, rated...

High-end:
costco
la police gear closeouts

Mid-Range:
target

Low-End:
Walmart
thrift stores - often with the best quality stuff and lowest prices.

I don't even know how I end up with the clothes I have.

I have my suspicions.

Places that I never bother going to anymore, and will probably be out of business a few years from now.

Sears
JcPenney
Bon Ton (Oh wait, they are already in bankruptcy)
Macy's
Boscov's
Best Buy

Places where I buy stuff that need NOW or can't easily get online

Walmart
Target
Tractor Supply

Stores where I can get cheap quality hot dogs

Costco

Best Buy has made a resurgence and now has a deal with Amazon to co-sell TVs.

Macy's has great discounts during their yearly sale which I think is going on now.

You have to like my simplified 3 point rating system, though:

1) Don't go there anymore
2) Have to go there on occasion
3) Has cheap hot dogs

I really simplified the process. Manly men like myself will approve!

One too many categories. Throw Sears into the same bin ad Kohl's and JC Penney.

Does Macy's still have their flagship store in Manhattan? Surely that has to be a cut above all the bog standard regional shopping mall stores they bought from May and others.

Places I buy clothing from: Amazon
Places I buy electronics from: Amazon
Places I get most of my entertainment from: Amazon
Places I buy gifts for my wife from: Amazon (and Swarovski)
Places I buy from just because I'm bored: Amazon

Pretty much all of my clothes arrive as X-Mas or Birthday gifts. The purpose of clothing is to cover my nakedness when out in polite society.

Since their reorg I've bought major appliances from them. Easiest too deal with and least stressful yet.

Target is fine for a basic pair of shorts or single-color t-shirt. They have that Merona brand which is halfway decent. I don't really feel the need to impress anyone with my fashion; I just want to look presentable.

The last time I bought stuff at The Gap was a few years ago. They have nice stuff but I always feel weird walking into stores like that in the mall.

I don't go to many "dept" stores.

Walmart - cat food, phone cards, jerky, and oil

Target - Fuck if I know. I guess I just want to see if something's interesting a couple times per year.

Marshalls/TJ Maxx - Jul gifts and socks around jul.

That's it. Virtually 100% of the clothes I get for myself are from the thrift shop. The rest are gifts
