Phoenix, I loled.

So, I just read the book after hearing about this movie this morning. It is an extremely introverted story, and fairly dark. I have zero doubt that the film will be "inspired by" the book, rather than being the book in movie form; I just don't see it translating easily to film since at least 70% of what goes on is entirely in one person's head. Overall, I think I liked it, though some might find it... emotionally difficult. That's not a very good description, but I'm not going to spoil anything, so deal with it.

As usual, I will reserve judgement until we have reviews and I've seen a few trailers, but I'm expecting it to either suck or to succeed purely on spectacle. In general, movies ALWAYS have trouble capturing the depth of their source material. In specific, I just don't think this is a story that will work as a movie without extensive (high quality) rewrites and some pretty strong performances from everyone involved. But, I do tend to be pretty hard on movies.

yeah, because having an exoskeleton to greatly amplify strength and drastically increase endurance all while effectively eliminating recoil clearly is useless

and its not like this has to take place that far in the future: http://youtu.be/zkBnFPBV3f0

What I meant was, can't we fiction up some kind of gun instead of using an existing one is all. I have no doubt that powered exosuits are coming soon (assuming we can ever provide a power source with more power and longer life than any battery currently available).

Makes more sense that if the suit fails or is damaged , that the troop can just detach the gun and keep using it.

What was that failed ABC shows about someone who repeats the same day over and over again? It was a failure but when i finally watched it i liked it a lot. It was about 15 episodes and wrapped up the story nicely by the end.

I think it was on during Alias or Lost times and the commercials were enough to kill any audience for it.

We still use guns that were first designed and used over a hundred years ago. If it's not broke...

The future, and we're still using an FN SCAR 17 mounted to a forearm with some rig to actuate the trigger. *sigh*

You're only one of a handful of people who would recognize this. What's next, going to comment on his boots and how they are circa 1996 design? Or perhaps the metal composition of his suit looks to be chinese made and by this time in the future, all metalworking will be moved to Korea.

We get it, you won't watch it because it will "bother" you because you're so cool and you notice this stuff. I hear Smurfs 2 is coming out, maybe that's more your style?
