It's not that world leaders outside of Syria don't have compassion or want to act. Even Mr. Putin deep down knows that allowing Syria's civil war to rage on in this manner is wrong. It's just that there's no solution proposed to date that doesn't make things worse.

Yep.

And I can't fault world leaders for that because every scenario I can think of appears to potentially worsen the situation.

Hey, if there's one thing that'll bring P&N together - it's that we all agree Syria is in chaos and there's nothing we can do to help.

Perhaps we should open up a refugee corridor. Anybody who wants to leave can. Then those who stay are the fighters on both sides and just nuke it over and over and over.

On a serious note both sides have substantial numbers of former-humans-- those so now depraved and immoral that they no longer get to call themselves part of our species.

It's why the Federation had the Prime Directive. The unforeseen consequences of our actions have a tendency to turn out rather poorly for everyone involved. The US should really adopt the Prime Directive instead of the White Man's Burden when it comes to "needy" peoples.

The only reason Putin allows this to happen is cause he does not want shit to hit the fan against the US.

I can tell you this, if uncle Joseph were still alive he wouldn't put up with this shit for a second.
