Grim Fandango Remaster

"running on the tablet"

It's a terribly written article, but a PC release would be fantastic. It'd save me the $100 to get a Vita TV.

IIRC, it was confirmed for PC shortly after the E3 announcement. I would expect nothing less from Tim Schafer. That's where he built is career. Grim is one of my all time favourite adventure games, so I'm stoked for this. Hope they' get a trailer out soon, or at least some screens to give us a taste of what it's going to look like.

Yep! It has been confirmed as a PC release for quite a while now. Although, the game was talked up at a Sony press conference, so that explains why they didn't really talk about the PC aspect.

Although, as a sort of "side question" to that... do you think that Sony and Microsoft are ignoring the PC a little too much as a serious competitor? It's almost as if Sony and Microsoft only care about each other's console.

I'm stoked for this. One of my favorite games ever. My brother and I played it together sitting in front of my computer. As soon as it comes out it is going on my HTPC to be played on the big screen with the whole family.

I don't think either of them see the PC as a primary competitor to the console market. I think they see the PC is a secondary market to make some additional money off of, not a competition to their primary market, and they are not fully wrong. I know that I buy both Xbox and PS3 (don't have either of the new consoles yet) games, but I only do so when it is deeply discounted and the game gets little advantage to being on a PC.

I read an interview recently where Tim Schafer said he'd consider doing HD remakes of his other games. All depends on how well Grim Fandango HD sells. I'd personally love to see Full Throttle get the same treatment Monkey Island 1 & 2 got. Same goes with Maniac Mansion and Day of the Tentacle.

I couldn't play it because i didn't have a supported 3D Accelerator at the time, but my oh my I read articles on this game over and over again.

Back before LucasArts started milking the Star Wars cow to death.

This (sort of)....

Lucasarts was fantastic BEFORE the prequel trilogy was released. After that, they were forced to cater to (1) a young, 'casual player' audience and (2) forced to pretty much make every game about the prequel movies rather than the classic trilogy.

Then the talent left and they stopped innovating. I sincerely count Lucasarts as a top 3 dev in the 90s. They made FABULOUS games from SW (Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, X-Wing, TIE Fighter, x-wing Alliance, XvT) plus others like Full Throttle, The Dig, Sam and Max, etc. The memories. 🙂

Maniac Mansion was from Lucasarts and that was 1987.

Other notables like Monkey Island and Indiana Jones are from the 90s.

Totally forgot about those games! They were a blast. Interestingly enough, I think a lot of the titles Lucasarts did in the 90s would be great hits now, and thats why we are seeing some of these re-released. Adventure games with a great story and interesting characters, rather than cutting-edge graphics, are always fantastic and stand the test of time well.

Probably pick this up next summer when it hits a sale. One of the few LA titles I've never played or owned.
