Hi,
I recently bought Grim Fandango and wanted to install it on Windows 2000 only to find that it complains about DirectX and won't let me start the game...

Is there a workaround for this or does anybody know where I might find more information on how to get Grim Fandango to work?

The Lucasarts site doesn't have any helpful information. Thanks in advance!

To get it to work at all you'll need to launch it from the grimfandango.exe located in the lucas arts/grim folder. The auto run launcher will never work because it doesn't recognize DirectX 7 and thinks 6 needs to be installed.

Once you get it running................good luck. It usually crashes back to the desktop within a minute or two when I launch it. A MS gaming guru suggested the following to me but they weren't much help;

>Try running in software mode instead of 3D hardware acceleration (assuming you've got a cpu with some horsepower).

>Disable all running progs before launching.

>Try running at 16 bit color and a lowered screen resolution.

Gosh, I can't get this darn thing to work! I mean it jumps right out of the game about two minutes after you start it.

Oh well... :(

Same problem for me, I was looking forward to playing it on my win2k laptop but I guess I'll stick to my win9x desktop to play. What a bummer!
