My GF just got me a pretty nice grill for Christmas... I was wondering how all of you clean yours. I'm definately going to fire it up this weekend...

I've always just used community grills so didn't really worry about how nice it looked.

I just use a stiff wire brush to brush the grates off. But I don't do it when I'm done cooking, I do it before I start the next time. Turn the grill on high for 5 minutes or so to let it heat up. Then scrape the stuff off there and put on the new food to start cooking.

clean your grill?

maybe its a gas thing? i never clean my coal grill. i used too, but when watching all the grilling cook offs on food network i noticed that all the guys in the contests had "dirty" racks, so i stopped. i think it adds flavor, but that may just be all in my head.

I can tell you from experiance that they do not have dirty racks. What you are seeing is the rack after having already cooked several things that day, and never having be allowed to cool down. Any time the heat is turned down they remove the racks and clean them. Once the pit is cold they will sweep it out and clean the entire casing with a powerwasher.
