grille guard... worth it?

i drive a navy blue explorer sport, and i was thinking about getting a chrome grille guard...

i look online and see them going for like $800, but i went to a store and they had a similar one for like $420... what do you think of them?

it's kinda just for looks... i mean yea it makes your car a little safer, but its basically just for looks... think its worth it?

I personally do not like grille guards on vehicles, but since it's your vehicle you can do what you want.

I would dare to think a set of running boards would look nicer for the money.

Edit: Spelling and Spacing

If you go offroading a lot, don't get it. It will dramatically decrease your angle of approach.

Also, the added weight to front end *could* wear out your front suspension faster.

But if you're going just for the looks, go for it 🙂

I bought one for my 89 Ramcharger, I think it looks pretty nice. The main reason i bought it was I wanted something to hold my 2 new KC Lights. Mine Is chrome, not stainless steel, so it was alot cheaper (approx 300). My chrome still looks real good after a few years, so as long as you take care of it, everything will be OK.

Here is a pic of my car with it on. Text
