I love racing games, and for the life of me wouldn't play without a wheel. To all those people that use gamepads\ KB&M.....get yourself a good wheel, it will make a new game out of every driving game you have...period.

rumblepad works just fine for me

no way in hell i'm paying $300 for a G25 just to play Grid with

My Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2 works fine also.

I wouldn't buy a Logitech G25 either (at least not now....when I'm rich, then yes).
However, for those that want a wheel like myself...consider the Logitech MOMO for ~$75.

😀

BTW: After turning on traction control, I can now actually do the open wheel races. They were a real pain in the ass. To counter the rep lost by turning this on, I increased the difficulty level.

I have the momo, the next best thing to a G25, dont know what they cost in the US, seriously, you wont regret purchasing a wheel...

Would anyone who has the game confirm if it supports Games for Windows Live? I have a 360 Live account that I would like to use with it.

I tried out the demo and was impressed enough that I plan on buying it after work today. After the huge letdown that Pro Street was (is anyone really surprised?), I'm hoping to get a few good LAN parties out of this game, since it supports 12 players. My only gripe is the console inspired UI we see all too often these days.

Actually I thought Pro Street was quite good, but only if you avoid using a keyboard. With a wheel it was 100x better than with keyboard I found.

Bad news. I tried to use the Xbox 360 Wheel with it and it failed miserably. The game doesn't recognize the wheel, and in order for it to work you have to manually map the drive controls to the game. Also, Force feedback does not work for the 360 Wheel. Grrr....

I ended up returning the wheel at best buy. I read that the logitech wheels work with the game however, but I really want to use the 360 wheel because it's wireless and over $150 cheaper than the Logitech G25. I guess I'll have to wait for a patch to come out. Until then I'll just have to use my 360 wireless game pad to play.

Should I use my PS3 controller or my old Sidewinder Precision Pro?

I have Logitech Wingman wheel (non FF) too, but thats a pain to use and set up

Its possible the Logitech DriveFX will work with GRID on the PC.

The logitech momo should be in your price range, and it works very well for me.

The game is great, but I can never beat all the Euros and South Americans in online play. Make one mistake and you go from first to 6th without a chance of catching up.

With an Xbox controller it is far and away the best racing game I've played on PC. I find it drives allot like Grand Turismo 3 on the PS2 but with damage and mulligans. With performance optimizations, multiple team drivers, and a larger car base it would be the best arcade racer to date imho. It's a shame Gran Turismo doesn't have a PC release.

I can understand now why software vendors don't have more PC releases. Multiple drivers for different hardware must be a nightmare to make patches for.

After playing this on the pc for a good portion of the weekend, I must say I really enjoyed it especially the drifting and touge races. And this was playing with just the keyboard. I do have a MS Precision wheel but I don't think it's fully supported because the accelerator and brake pedals are way too sensitive. Just a slight tap and I'm either flooring it or slamming on the brakes.

A few other issues that are plain frustrating are the sketchy physics and inconsistent AI. There were a few times when I didn't brake in time and slam into the car ahead of me pretty much taking both our bumpers off and nothing happens. Yet other times I just accidently tap them and I lose all control and slam into the wall. And the AI can be damn tough at times even on Normal difficultly. They seem to have NOS or something and just take off on the straights. I do get them on the corners but anything I gain there they just gain right back on the straights.

The only things that I really notice when it comes to glitches are items that drop out of the sky, the occasional car that flies up in the air, the thousand mile warp and graphical glitches where backgrounds (especially trees) are blinking on and off.

Inability to save replays = still sucks

I think that is because you are using a digital signal for accelerate or brake ie: off or on. You need to configure the pedals as analogue to get the range.....

Can someone tell me if the retail version has a copy protection? My Direct 2 Drive version has securom. I read today that the game doesn't even do a key check for multiplayer, so pirates can play online. It'd be kind of weird if they added DRM but didn't bother to add something as simple as a key check.

The retail version doesn't require a key, but you must enter a disc to play. (which is annoying as hell, I wish I used steam)
