so, is she really dead? how can you have a greys anatomy without a grey?

weird, this was supposed to be a 3 parter right?

First off that show really botched how a hospital would deal with someone who is drowning + extreme hypothermia.

First was how they didn't intubate her in the ambulance...thats BS first off.

Secondly when you have someone who has drowned and is 'cold' like that you do EVERYTHING in your power to warm them up ASAP, warm gastric lavage, warm bladder lavage, warm IV fluids, warming blankets etc.

Secondly if you know anything about anatomy, the heart cant really function below around 80-82F(or 27-28C), So first off for them to say oh her temp is 82F and we're losing her is BS in it's own right. You aren't dead til you are 98 degrees F, and in asystole. At least thats how we play it in real life....i'm really getting fed up with the bad medicine in some of these shows because it gives such a false impression to people then when we have a patient in a bad situation in the ER and family says Do X that I saw on Grey's Anatomy it's like no, we cant it wont help. And the family thinks we are lying to them....it's just like the CSI phenomenon for police. Alot of that crap is just for drama's sake and we CANT do things like that.

It's just how TV is, has been, and always will be. Has you said, CSI, Criminal Minds, ER...they're all the same. Luckily, not many people take them to be a fully-accurate rendition of reality, although yes, there often is more credence placed in them than there should be.

QFT

It's television. It's supposed to be stupid fun, not an accurate depiction of reality.

Well, aside from the fact that the premise of "seeing and talking to dead people while you're in limbo land between death and life yourself" has been played out, it was a good way to bring back two popular guest stars.

They could start a whole new story line - Brain-dead Meredith in the same nursing home as her Alzheimers mother. The other characters could visit and tell about the hospital using flashback vignettes, while Meredith and her mother could go on dream-like adventures in their altered mental states.

Maybe they hired a new writer who has LSD flashbacks and he wanted a way to write the groovy scenes into the show.

it'll be complicated whenever karev's pregnant patient with the screwed up face heals up and is smokin' hot and they both end up getting feelings for each other...

i seriously doubt she's gonna die...but it would be nice 'cause i'm sick of her dreary personality. likely Christina is gonna be the one to insist they try reviving her some more, then poof, she'll suddenly rouse from death.

can someone explain to me why Izzie doesn't agree with George's decision in marrying Callie? is she jealous or something?

Last year's post-super bowl 2 hour special. I think it's episodes 16 - 17 or so. I would tell you a brief summary, but I don't know if you would want to watch it first =)

Yes. The show is about DRAMA and not MEDICINE.

I love this show and think its well acted and well written...but I came to this thread to say the exact same thing. I think it may have just jumped the shark with that last scene. The little Izzy speech didn't help either.

Meredith should have said "Oh boy"...then it would have at least completed the Quantum Leap vibe. ;)

It jumped.........no question. They're already running out of ideas and are turning it into an ER by taking everyone outside the hospital. What was once an original hopsital show is turning into an ER clone- the only difference is there is more than one "Carter" walking around.

BTW- Izzy is hot though.

I like how george was told that that marrying callie was a mistake. Only a matter of time before he comes out of the closet and Joe the bartender gives him a sympathy bang just like meredith did

She won't die, but if they did kill her off it would be my favorite show of all time simply for having the balls to kill the main character.

Well, still when you make the medicine so grossly wrong that it makes soap opera medicine look good then yea I'll complain. And actually i complain more because the show used to do much better on the medical accuracy side. These last 4-5 episodes have really thrown it out the window...and since I work in a hospital it kills some or in the case of Meredith all of the drama/suspense.

Ahh well ER at least has really been doing a good job on the medical aspect lately so win some you lose some :p

EDIT: And I do think this is really jumping the shark. I'm probably gonna not watch after this season ends...probably stick with House, Scrubs, ER and Lost....
