i think it would be a sweet change if she dies, it would turn into Grey's whisperer or she would be the quirky ghost in their lives. definitely turn into a sci-fi show ha ha.

My wife watches the series and I catch it from time to time. I told her last night Merideth is going to die and they will cancel the show. LOL!!!

I think they have that already, it's called Desperate Housewives.

there is no way in hell what i posted is a spoiler. you knew from the previous episode that she was drowning.

i didn't mention whether or not she was pulled from the water.

i didn't give you any clue as to anything leading up to the ending.

AFAYK, my post tells you nothing more than what you knew from the end of the previous episode, does meredith die or not.

First off that show really botched how a hospital would deal with someone who is drowning + extreme hypothermia.

First was how they didn't intubate her in the ambulance...thats BS first off.

Secondly when you have someone who has drowned and is 'cold' like that you do EVERYTHING in your power to warm them up ASAP, warm gastric lavage, warm bladder lavage, warm IV fluids, warming blankets etc.

Secondly if you know anything about anatomy, the heart cant really function below around 80-82F(or 27-28C), So first off for them to say oh her temp is 82F and we're losing her is BS in it's own right. You aren't dead til you are 98 degrees F, and in asystole. At least thats how we play it in real life....i'm really getting fed up with the bad medicine in some of these shows because it gives such a false impression to people then when we have a patient in a bad situation in the ER and family says Do X that I saw on Grey's Anatomy it's like no, we cant it wont help. And the family thinks we are lying to them....it's just like the CSI phenomenon for police. Alot of that crap is just for drama's sake and we CANT do things like that.

This show is perilously close to jumping the shark - that is if it has not already.

OK, Meredith is about the most self-involved person in the universe. The chances of her falling into the water and deciding to sink are about zero. It is about her, it HAS to be about her, so as soon as her skinny ass hit the Pacific, she'd be screaming for help.

Moving on, she is now in the hospital during a MAJOR MCI and every nearly attending in the hospital and all of the surgical interns are either working on her or standing outside her room. Sorry but they have jobs to do and people to save. And what the hell is the Chief of Surgery doing giving CPR to anyone?

My last point is that she was under water for well over 2 minutes and the water wasn't cold enough to preserve her brain. She IS dead and will not COULD NOT be revived.

All that aside, she will be back next episode after some miraculous thing happens to bring her back. My TIVO cut off the last 2 minutes of the show, but I presume the bomb squad guy and her will have a conversation and she will decide to stay away from the light and go back... blah blah blah It'll be all about her again...

The is ZERO suspense here and it is annoying that they try to create it.

It's not like they will actually kill off the "main character" in the show...what'll they do, change the name to "Anatomy"? Or maybe just "that Seattle Hospital Show? Nah, they'll pull some miracle out of their asses and save her...to the relief of Shepard..who will probably propose to her on the spot...;)
It WAS good to see Denny again though. I liked that character, and was sad when they killed him off...

even if they do revive her, shouldn't she be already brain dead? I mean, how much time had passed before they restored circulation to her brain ... wait, did even do that?

It's just how TV is, has been, and always will be. Has you said, CSI, Criminal Minds, ER...they're all the same. Luckily, not many people take them to be a fully-accurate rendition of reality, although yes, there often is more credence placed in them than there should be.
