Binnie K" on our Seti TeAm Roster is "DigitalComa" on the AT Forums. :)

I think I have it now. :D

BTW, Binnie you ought to enable your PM (Private Message) option. You'll find it in your PROFILE (top right of this page). ;)

And another big Welcome to the TeAm. :D

Yeah I know, it's confusing. I'm afraid I had a lapse of judgement when I registered my nick with SETI. Or with the forums. I don't know.

I had my PM enabled but thanks for the suggestion anyway ;)

Once again, thank you all for the warm welcome!

Great to have you onboard. :D

And I have to agree with NWM. It's a nice change to see a new member introducing himself. :p

Welcome. :)

Welcome to the TeAm, DigitalComa aka Binnie K! :D

Have fun at the forums here, and don't venture into ATOT too much; take it from someone who knows, you'll get addicted fast. ;)

Glad to have you with us!

That seems like a pretty good main rig. You should move up through the lower ranks pretty fast:)

Heh well  I don't run SETI 24/7 because I don't run my rig 24/7, and I don't keep it on when I'm gaming. So on average, I've been running SETI about 8 hours every day. I'm considering allowing the comp to stay on for 24 hours, well, that is if the folks don't mind :p

So far I've got 5 WU's done. Yeah, I know, bad. So I'll see about the 24/7 runtime.

This is the only computer at home after all :)

6 hours per WU seems to be my average, but I was running the GUI for the first 3, so that slowed things up.

There's no need to shut Seti down when playing games, as it will give up CPU time to the games as they need it. Plus then there's no possibility of forgetting to restart it after finishing playing! :)

And as for leaving the computer on 24/7, haven't you ever just wanted to check something out on the internet at 3am in the morning when you've just been woken up by your pet, or just pop on and frag a couple of people on your favourite FPS?

They're my excuses, and they seem to work ;)

LOL, good excuses. I don't really need any excuses, because although my parents aren't very computer literate, they understand DC projects (I explained the DC projects to them in a very simple way, and showed how stuff like Folding@Home was very beneficial), and they let me run both of my systems 24/7/365.25. :D (I use power saving, of course, to turn off the monitors, so electricity usage isn't a big problem...on the other hand, if I had as many systems as Networkman... ;) )

Haha! Well, I'll consider it...although I don't like running any apps when I'm gaming because I need every fps I can get! I don't forget to restart SETI, as I have a big ol' shortcut on my desktop. So it's cool :)
Getting up at 3 AM, eh? Then two and a half hours later I'd have to start getting ready for school :(
lol
Anyway, 24/7 is being considered...by me. I can really do whatever I want with the computer, as it's practically mine alone. :D

However many or few WU's a day you do will be appriecated :)

Though I reckon you won't be able to resist not going 24/7 for long;) hehe ,I resisted for about 3.5mths ,it would of been less than that but at the time the old text version of SETIQ was rather complicated to get running & I didn't have a clue how to until Magicman & Ragman showed me how.So my rig has been 24/7 since Feb 2000!;)

Yeah, I'm predicting that as well. :)
You're telling me your computer has been running 24/7 for 2 years and 6 months? No cool down shut down time at all? :Q
Wowzors.

I've had no problems with it:) ,though I did add an extra case fan & a bigger HSF at the time for the (then) Cel 366@550.The cpu is still running along fine at that speed now in my sons rig:)
Only time my PC gets shut off is for an upgrade, the occasional power cut & when I take it out for the odd LAN party;)

Jesus! I didn't realise you had that many!:Q ,that's gotta be rivaling NWM;)
Btw it costs about £6/mth here for a PC going 24/7

Hehe...I just ordered two more motherboards! :)

5 of the PC's will be without cases and located on a rack. There is a temp. controlled window fan (dual fans) that kick on when it gets hotter. I insulated my garage door with two layers of stryofoam to keep the summer heat out and the fans do the rest. It does get hot in there, but not so hot that the processors and other components can't handle. The AC here runs just like always, but this being the 3rd hottest summer in 100 years, it would have run anyway. Upstairs, I have 4 PC's in one room...with a dual window fan that pulls the heat out. I let that room get warmer ....in Winter, it's nice! :)

I've seen an increase in the electric bill....but at this point, I don't mind the bill. Like I said, the winter will be a bonus! ;)
