Shallots

How are you doing the shallots? Don't they need a ton of time for the bed to develop like garlic or are they more like onions where you can plant and harvest?

Not really sure, just planted a crapload of the bottoms of shallots we had cut up. Just noticed them starting to sprout up today. Our gardening philosophy is throw a bunch of crap in the ground and if it grows, eat it. It's worked well enough with leek and scallion bottoms, I had a bunch of shallots the other day and figured what the hell, I'll give them a try.

LOL! You're like a squirrel. You munch off the goody tops then bury the bottoms.

mmmm, bulbs...mmmm.

Garden and flowerbeds are under 3 feet of snow right now, but I have a 400 sqft greenhouse full of plants, 1/2 acre garden/orchard, couple acres of landscaped yard areas, and eight acres or so of managed multiuse forest. Putting my degree in botany to good use.

Habanero usually, but I'm thinking of adding more pepper variety. Maybe some tomatoes too.
