Green squares on screen

Hello everyone!

I have an ATI 4890 and recently I noticed that when my computer shuts off the monitor, the monitor shows tiny green squares when the screen comes back to the desktop. The green squares/lines disappear within a second or so later and do not reappear while the computer is operating.

I attempted a stress test using Furmark but was unable to make the GPU create the error. DId a memory test and no errors were created either.

I haven't tested the monitor with other devices yet but if it was the monitor I suppose it would show up always.

Any other devices that could be the culprit?

Squares only show up when the computer shuts off the monitor (comp is still running not in sleep mode)

How do you have the monitor hooked up? VGA, DVI, or HDMI? I had a monitor do this once and it turned out to be caused by a cheap DVI cable.
