Hit the nail on the head.

Greenpeace is the gift that keeps on giving. Anything that makes the climate alarmists look like the idiots they are is good in my books.

Really? That's a false equivalence, that's like saying the same thing about douchebag street evangelists and Christians as a whole.

Yeah, it seems a bit of overstatement, it's not like they were doing snow angels in the sand. They put some cloth letters down with bricks over them. Not sure how that would destroy it, it wasn't over any of the sacred lines either. What they did wasn't any worse than a violent thunderstorm.

All in all, stupid move though.

Judging from one crappy picture, it looks like they drove a truck up to it, effing up the background the lines are on.

So they just announced on the news that they're going to partially boil the activists in hot oil, flay them from the belly button up, and then tie their skin above their head until they suffocate to death.

Everyone should be happy now.

That sounds about right.

if the gov't was so concerned about protecting the lines, they should have installed some protective covering over them years ago.

Ugh.

It used to be that you could go visit sites around the world and enjoy them peacefully. Alas, no, a bunch of asshats had to go around messing up sites. So now there are lots of great sites around the world with barriers, scaffolding, fences, and a whole slew of other protective measures that completely ruin the whole experience.

I would much rather that they leave them alone but seriously imprison people who ruin it for the rest of us.

I was disappointed that they were not going to quarter them as well. Animals want to share in this punishment.

That's exactly what a publicity stunt is. Bad news travels faster than good.

But shit like this doesn't exactly endear people to their cause.

Contrary to what GP stated, I can clearly see where they've disturbed the ground in the video.

FYI, you're supposed to wear these when you visit (and few people are authorized to visit):

It does when it draws responses like these
This is what you get by supporting ftards that do "slacktivism" to "raise awareness". It's just a euphemism for being a self centered asshole where there world revolves around "your cause" while you accomplish absolutely nothing.

See occupy wall street, Ferguson idiots stopping traffic, retweeting a hashtag about a cause that's popular this week etc. It's the lefty version of putting a ribbon on your SUV; makes you feel you did anything while not actually doing anything at all.

Suddenly Geenpeace isn't just a band of douchebags, it's something that certain people doesn't like. If I don't like climate change deniers or people that talk trash about "lefties" I suddenly feel a connection with Greenpeace, because the enemy of my enemy is my friend and humans are still very much tribal animals. They feed on your hate.

Those are the people that are already GP supporters/extremists.

I doubt they are gaining much support from more moderate people from this.

That's what you think. I was speaking hypothetically, but that also describes me. I still won't support Greenpeace, but I can see why a more passionate and less rational person in my shoes would. Incidentally, your attitude is exactly why those tactics work. You think non-conservatives are "extremists", and certainly not rational people. It's us versus them.

The point of such stunts is to gain attention and support from moderates.

Well they got the attention but they've just demonstrated to the moderates that Greenpeace is a bunch of self-centered and moronic asshats.

No, I think extremists are extremists.

And GreenPeace is an extremist organization, just based on their tactics alone.

One can be a moderate or (gasp) a conservative and still care about the environment.

I don't see how climate change is relevant here - other people, other than these self centered assholes, are actually accomplishing things in that department. There's a climate summit going on right now.

My issue is with these idiots on hand, they're the same people as OWS and the idiots getting on a highway because otherwise no one would give a flying fuck and see them protesting. OMG WE SHUT DOWN A HIGHWAY, HERES A SELFIE OF ME DOING THIS PROTEST THAT WILL RESULT IN ABSOLUSTELY NOTHING.
