If you can't blind someone at 5 feet with a laser pointer, how the heck is it going to hurt an airplane pilot a mile away, through the thick glass on the air plane?
It appears that you know nothing about high powered lasers.
Well, go ahead and tell me.
Do they magically get moer powerful the further away, or the more glass you go through?

2nd response later in the thread

It appears that I never mentioned them.
It appears, you know nothing about the thread.
The lasers in question, are, it appears, not the least bit harmful.

Not sure.
I thought one was a response to spooooner, and one to dullard.
Now it loosk like the posts have been edited.

Strange tactic #1: multiple responses as if the first response wasn't even there.

I had the same question myself, but this is ATOT, you never know what strange tactics people will use.

Strange tactic #2: not knowing what you typed just a short time ago.
Glen in the OP: with laser so powerful
Dullard: It appears that you know nothing about high powered lasers
Glen: It appears that I never mentioned them

Strange tactic #3: completely overblowing the other's side with sheer disregard for what the other person said.
Do they magically get moer powerful the further away, or the more glass you go through?
I'm not sure how anyone got that from what I typed.

Let me attempt to retype the exact same thing in a different way. The news is using scare tactics. These are not harmful lasers. These lasers were used by children and/or parents who are not terrorists and who are not mad scientists. However, it is a PSA letting people know that a risk of danger is there. Basically, I was agreeing with everything glen typed. Strange tactic #4: being mad because a poster agreed with you.

That said, more powerful lasers do exist. No, the ones used so far for this have not been powerful. But higher powered lasers can potentially do harm. A laser from the ground as a plane is landing (ie not very far away) CAN temporarilly blind a pilot (or at least cause enough problems to distract the pilot away from the landing). If done near the landing, the co-pilot won't have time to take over and a crash could occur.
