Green color is gone from my monitor display

I have a Sony CPD-100vs trinitron monitor. I don't know what happened but yesterday the colors shown on the display changed to something reddish. I did the monitor self-test which supposed to show red, green, and blue color bars on the monitor. The problem was that there was no green bar shown.

I've checked my harddrive and no problem was found. So it must be the monitor's problem.

Is there any way to fix the monitor? This monitor is 3-4 years old but I really love it. I'd be appreciate if anyone can help me with this.

I had the same problem with a Philips monitor.

I took it apart and wiggled all of the connectors and then it worked.

Monitors have tree guns, one isn't connected

If it's all the way connected, check the pins.. You may have broken off the green one.

Yellow isn't a primary color for light (additive colors). Red, blue, and green are (red, blue, and yellow are primary for pigments - subtractive colors (More accurately, they are magenta, cyan, and yellow)). So yes, it could be monitor cable/pins but it's very likely the monitor itself (guns). Are you still under warranty? Have a good service shop in the area (there was a thread about this a few weeks ago in tech support)?

Remember that even after you've unplugged a monitor and let it sit for a while, it can still retain residual charges that can be lethal. You don't go inside one without using caution. Could it also be your video card? Do you have another card that you could swap in to determine if it is the monitor or have you tried the monitor with another system?

OK. I checked my monitor cable and one pin was missing. That might be the culprit. (I connected this monitor with my friend's laptop and it still showed the same problem. So it shouldn't be the problem with video card).

This monitor is not in warranty anymore (as I told you it's 3-4 year-old now). What should I do now? This cable is firmly fixed to the monitor so I think I can't just simply change it. Can stores like CompUSA or Bestbuy fix it? Will it be more expensive than buying a new monitor? Any idea?

I really appreciate all your helps.

I do not think that the pin missing is the problem. I just checked both of my monitors and 1 of them has 2 pins missing and the other has 3 pins missing.
