LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Actor Eddie Albert, a two-time Oscar nominee best known for his TV role as a big-city attorney turned farmer on the popular CBS comedy series "Green Acres," has died at age 99, a spokesman said on Friday.
Albert, a lifelong fitness enthusiast who was still doing push-ups and shooting baskets in his driveway until last month, died at his home on Thursday night of complications from pneumonia, which he contracted after a bout with the flu, publicist Dick Guttman said.
A prolific character actor whose career spanned radio, Broadway, films and television, the Illinois-born performer began his career as circus trapeze artist and as a singer and stage manager in local theater.
