I HAVE THE ANSWER.
Skip Disney. Works, eh? Like a boycott and shizzle.
They bought Fox.
They bought Marvel.
They bought Star Wars.
You can't just "Skip Disney". And the cock-suckers know it.

Heh, when I was at the doctor's office last month, someone was trying to strike up conversation, and they were incredulous at all the movies I haven't seen from the last decade. Its possible to skip Disney, just not easy. Also, it might make you a pariah to all your friends.
What is this "friends" thing you speak of?Its possible to skip Disney, just not easy. Also, it might make you a pariah to all your friends.

Like you guys.If you dont have them, think of them kinda like extended Family members who you choose rather than determined by circumstances of birth.
I think you could count the movies I've seen in the last 10 years on one hand, and none of them were in a theater.Heh, when I was at the doctor's office last month, someone was trying to strike up conversation, and they were incredulous at all the movies I haven't seen from the last decade.
Indeed, brother from another mother!Like you guys.![]()

Inasmuch as so-called "piracy" represents Copyright Infringement (violation of copyright law), then yes, that IS "piracy".This isn't exactly piracy, is it? They bought the movie.
I'm still going with "no" on this, but you keep your pedantry if it makes you happy.Inasmuch as so-called "piracy" represents Copyright Infringement (violation of copyright law), then yes, that IS "piracy".
I used to be a die-hard Star Wars geek. Since Disney got their hands on that property, I haven't watched a single one of the disney-fied Star Wars films. People tell me that I'm not missing much. Its possible to skip Disney, just not easy. Also, it might make you a pariah to all your friends.
Well, there's a reason that DVD case, and often, the DVD itself says right on it, "Licensed for Private Performance Only".I'm still going with "no" on this, but you keep your pedantry if it makes you happy.
I'm not disputing any of that. Piracy is generally taken to mean obtaining an illegitimate copy, and this wasn't that.Well, there's a reason that DVD case, and often, the DVD itself says right on it, "Licensed for Private Performance Only".
"Public Performance" - whether at a commercial (for pay) venue, or not, is covered separately under Copyright Law (since like, the 70s or earlier, this was not something new with the DMCA), and must be licensed. Whether that means paying a licensing fee for that particular performance, to the appropriate rights-holder (or their broker), or purchasing a monthly license from an organization that handles things (music, for example, is handled via ASCAP, I don't know the name of the one that handles AudioVisual Performances (movies)), well, basically, you have to pay for it one way or another. Simply buying the DVD isn't enough, unless you are watching it "privately", which generally means at your home, or on your PC.

Ew, I don't need that imagery. Keep your fapping to yourself.I think you could count the movies I've seen in the last 10 years on one hand, and none of them were in a theater.

I've got friends who work for Disney and they enjoy paying their mortgage and bills. The company has a very serious culture of protecting the ownership/copyright of their property and most of the employees support it.Probably one of the parents at that school work at Pixar (or a friend of a parent) and either ratted them out or advertised it to boost fundraising inadvertently ratting them out.
Copyright simply says that the person who creates a work owns that work. Or the company employing them to create that work does, baring a contract stating different. As a photographer, protecting my copyright and not allowing anyone to use my work for free puts food on the table for my family. The problem with copyright law is that it's owned by the rich, designed to look like fair use and protection for the little guys.
Companies like Disney decide when copyrights "expire" and enter "fair use". So then they steal all these "fair use" works and make them their own, and make sure the copyrights will never expire once in their hands. If they can't get it by "fair use" they'll find other ways to get what they want, starting with "legal" means like bullying or buyouts...if needed, I'm certain they use illegal means as well.
People get upset at companies like Apple and Nvidia for their apparent greed and "dirty" tactics... Disney is vastly more disgusting and sinister.
I'm a Star Wars and movie fan in general. I don't see many in theaters, but have all the Star Wars to date. Disney buying the franchise didn't thrill me, but I still enjoyed them and will watch whatever else they put out. The Mandalorian was awesome.I used to be a die-hard Star Wars geek. Since Disney got their hands on that property, I haven't watched a single one of the disney-fied Star Wars films. People tell me that I'm not missing much.
