Greatest PC Game of all time?

I would have to say Half-Life. That game revolutionized online gaming and first person shooters for me.

While it wasn't a PC game, Goldeneye 007 for N64 really took FPS's to the next level. The multiplayer (only up to 4) game was also incredible for its time.

For the PC, they all have different things to like, but Max Payne had "bullet time". Now that was awesome!

Battle Zone 2000! I think Im the only person who ever knew the game existed. By far the best rts/fps game I have ever played. The only gripe I had was buggy multiplayer. And no expansion pack.

I must concur that it's unreasonable to pick a single title. Too many great games representing differing genres.

The original Tribes was, for online play and multiplayer interaction, the greatest for me, back when it was supported.

I agree that Deus Ex should be a contender for best overall sp game, but considering the time it was produced, his (Warren Spector?) prior production System Shock 2 is still a phenomenal work that I couldn't easily rule out.

Easy. Space Invaders - first video game ever in 1978.
Personal impact though - Civilization I - played that silly, first all-nighter ever.
Now - BattleField Vietnam - Amazing online multi-player game.

My vote for greatest game is Starcraft.

I started Everquest back up after putting it away for a few years. Since most everybody is in the upper levels and off in some expansion pack I don't have, or moved to EQ2, the maps are dead. I wouldn't have anyone to talk to if it weren't for the guild I found quickly. Maybe I'll give Starcraft a try...

counter-strike ... how can you ever let go of CS, you can't really get bored.

thats my vote. i'm working on WoW as well, so far ... i think i need to find more ways to extract more hrs in the day.
