Single player I would have to say HL2 and multi player CS. I don't think any game has taken as much time as CS for me. Maybe Age of Empires: The Rise of Rome that was a great game but I like CS more.

Planescape: Torment

My Top 5 is probably:

1) Planescape: Torment
2) Alpha Centauri
3) Rome: Total War
4) Half-Life 2
5) Baldurs Gate I & II or Freespace 2

I don't know what's wrong with you, but I consider "old school" to be Pre-Doom. New School IMO is anything since then.

Dragon Warrior 3 for NES...such warm, fuzzy memories of that amazing game. It was very complex for its day and the system it was played on

Come on, you can't pick just 1.

Fallout
Fallout 2
Carmageddon 1
Carmageddon 2
Warcraft 1 & 2
Starcraft
Destruction Derby
(I'm sure more will pop into my head later)

/Really only likes the games with monster replay value

Or maybe Ultima Online.

I don't think you can call an RPG a great game. They're all so damn scripted it's like watching a movie and the "game" requires merely rudimentary math skills to succeed in. Adventure/FPS games require problem solving and tactics and actual coordination and reflexes to win.

1a. Dark Forces
1b. Ultima Online
2. Tie Fighter
3. Rome: Total War
4. HL2

Final Fantasy VII probably took the most time.

I had every character to level 99 and each had 9999 of HP and 999 of MP and I also had 3 sets of all 3 master materias.

...then my brother goes and erases my memory card.

Greatest PC game of all time however:

Singleplayer: Unreal
Multiplayer: I'd have to say CS

It's a tie between WarCraft 3 and Unreal, next comes Total Anihilation, KotOR, Doom 3, Diablo 2, StarCraft then maybe Half-Life 2. The list could go further and further since I love many of the games I've played.

You should give Planescape: Torment a go if you liked BG2.

I'll second that one. I remember being a Defender player back in the day when all the girls and girly-men were playing that stupid, boring, one-knobbed, game called Pacman. Waaaah... Defender has too many buttons. Waaaah! :p :D

Quit reading my mind.
