What do you guys think? We were talking about it in my History class this morn, and I was just wondering what some of you history buffs' thought-

BTW-

Our teacher didn't pick a moment, she said the greatest time frame was the end of the civil war.

from 1776 to present date.

Personally, I believe the men on the moon was our greatest shining moment- but what do I know?

i would have loved to live in the Roaring Twenties running around being a mobster. Not exactly a great moment in history, but still kinda cool.

But i think dropping the nuclear bombs in Japan sent the world the message "don't f**k with us," where we became the world's first Superpower

That is the greatest moment in American history. The time our founding fathers fought for their freedom and the freedom for everyone else.

I think you are right, but I wish you'd expressed it with a little more tact.

EDIT: IMO it had more to do with ending WWII rather than muscle-flexing...but I'm not American, so pardon my objectivity.

I'll have to agree with Independence Day: July 4, 1776.

Either that or the Emancipation Proclomation

Technological= I would have to say the man on the moon and Living up to President Kennedy's promise to reach the moon before 1970.

I remember watching it to this day and I will never forget it.

Political=The End of the "cold war" and the destruction of the Berlin Wall...
