mos def - black on both sides
talib kweli and hi-tek are reflection eternal - train of thought
eric b & rakim - paid in full
nas - illmatic
slick rick - the great adventures of slick rick
de la soul - 3 feet high and rising (would've preferred 'de la soul is dead')
redman - muddy waters
gang starr - moment of truth (would've preferred 'step into the arena')
common - like water for chocolate (would've preferred 'resurrection')

it kills me to not have illadelph halflife on my list and i would've also liked to see the roots things fall apart, digital underground sex packets, and kast's southernplayalisticadillacmuzik

edit: bah, i see you do have resurrection on there... threw me off there with adding 'the' in front of it

edit02: crap, i hate these threads. always makes me doubt my list. i look at it and then think i left out so-and-so and it bugs me to no end. i could have a completly different list in probably 2 hours. damn these threads!!

wow, great minds think alike. That's a pretty solid list, although I would probably replace 3 Feet High and Rising with Internal Affairs (Pharoah Monche is one of the most criminally slept on emcees in hiphop)

I go back to the very beginning of hip-hop and there is no question the greatest album is Criminal Minded. That album was just on another level, from beginning to end it just smoked. There have been a lot of good albums, but none like Criminal Minded. None

Well I had listened to mic club before this. Definately a great album. Then I just recently discovered rip the jacker. Wow, it totally blows all his other stuff outta the water. There are so many quotables in every song. I think the fact that it's produced by Stoupe definately helps. I really like Vinnie Paz's raw voice, but he doesn't do Stoupe's beats justice. This album would definately be in my top 15.

"If you could find a better flow ,then I can find a dinosaur on the Galapagos archipelago"

Canibus is the man, I think Poet Laureate might be my all time favorite Bis track. In fact Mic Club is my favorite album by him. I'll probably get stoned for this but am I the only one who did'nt like the production on RTJ, I usually like Stoupe's production but I was'nt feeling it on RTJ.

A lot of the fellas here are younger so they may be little heavy on the latest cuts, but I would venture you pose this question to 10 folks who go back more than 20 years like myself, I am willing to bet 6-7 out of those 10 will say the same, Criminal Minded.

wow.. i thought i was the only one feeling 'bis.

I'm probably the biggest Canibus fan on ATOT!

Don't forget Mos Def & Talib Kweli as well. Although Mos Def's latest album has been dissappointing (to me anyways).

I'm also looking forward to hearing Archtype by Tonedeff. Not sure if it is released yet but it promises to be really good. Tonedeff is an amazing lyricist and has great delivery.

Anyone here listen to J-Live, Immortal Technique, Binary Star, or Jurassic-5?? They have some good stuff as well, especially IT and Jurassic5. I haven't heard too much of J-Live's stuff although I'd really like to.

Immortal Technique's albums make it in my top 5 (Revolutionary 1 & 2), I can't wait 'till his next album. Binary Star's "Masters of the Universe" is great as well. You should check out "One Be Lo", he's one of the MCs that raps in Binary Star.

Man I'm shocked, I did'nt realize there were any hiphop fans on ATOT who listens to the same stuff I do. BTW Immortal Technique is quickly becoming one of my favorites emcees.

Canibus did not fall off. He just is trying to appeal to a different crowd // the mainstream with "hh4s". He will bring the lyrics when RTJ2 // Mic Club 2 / Caesar Germanicus comes out..

go to canibusworld.com/forum ... they discussed it there.

Have you heard anything new about the 4 Horsemen project, I thought it was indefinitely scrapped but I've heard that it might still be underway.

Another vote for Binary Star, and Mr. Lif

Have you checked out sonogram by one be lo? If you haven't I would recommend doing so, he has some really awesome talent and that album is incredible.

I know they have a compilation // album out, ever listened to it? The one that has the medieval beat.. lol. It's a pretty nice song, first "medieval" rap song I've heard.

They're still continuing the project though.

I'm a rabid Canibis fan, his freestyle radio appearances are the best I've ever heard

Have you heard his freestyle with Jurassic 5?? That is pretty good. I haven't heard any of his other freestyles.

Not to take away from the thread, but there are two singles that I urge everyone to listen to. They are "The Thin Red Line" by Jurassic 5 & Nelly Furtado (excellent song and great combination of singers) and "Dying Nation" by Cunninglynguists.

IT is pretty good but I like Tonedeff better. There is something about the way that the way Tonedeff flows the lyrics, its just awesome.

Can you imagine a song with Canibus & Tonedeff? The combined lyrical talent would be just mindblowing.

Yeah, Thin Line is probably my fav song on that album (Quality Control?).

This thread makes me smile like a proud father. All the "rap sux" ATOTers ever heard was probably Laffy Taffy and some Nelly sing-a-long.

Maybe not the very best album of all time, but easily one of the most underrated of all time (now that Illmatic is full-blown, exposurewise) has to be Fat Joe's Jealous Ones Envy from 1995. End-to-end burner, with "Envy" (shameless Sexual Healing sample) as a strong weakspot.
