Poor quality, but that was a horrible play on the ball by the opposing goalie.

And Rooney's goal is pretty spectacular, not saying that Roberto Carlos' isn't, but the astounding touch and ball control Rooney needed to score on that try makes it better than Carlos'.

 I was incredibly impressed by the fact that he made it coming off the outside of his foot. That just seems REALLY hard. But then again, I don't play/follow soccer much, so who am I to say. :p

As a soccer player i assure you that it is difficult to strike it with that much power and still make it accurate...

That free kick with the ball spin was crazy

Second that. It was crazy spin

In 18 years of soccer, I've done that ONCE...and not nearly as severe a curve. I'm still trying to figure out exactly how it occured...

I'm not gonna try to find/view video (I'm on dial-up), but since you didn't specify the goal had to come in regulation FIFA play, I'm going to say that Pele's bicycle kick at the end of that movie (where the prisoners take on the guards)... that was the greatest goal of all time.

i watched that movie during soccer camp back in 9th grade. it had sly stallone in it. it's called 'escape to victory.'

nobody was EVER better than pele.... you can call out ronaldhino all you want... you can call out maradona.... you can call out figo, ronaldo, beckham, zidane, etc... pele still wins.

this is probably one of the sweetest goals i'd seen... THROUGH the wall.

pele did it consistantly and he even invented some of the most spectacular moves in soccer.... and he never pussied out and took spills to get a foul whenever he got tapped on the leg, shoulder, etc. people had to ACTUALLY PULL HIM TO THE GROUND whenever they were against him because otherwise he'd score. even then, he STILL would try to get back up and play... he wouldn't bitch like the soccer players do today and beg the ref for a penalty against the other team.... Text

wars between tribes and countries have been stopped just so everyone can get a chance to watch the greatest footballer in history play for 90 minutes...

here are some more pele goals...

bbc's top 10 world cup goals... pele had the #10 greatest goal and assisted bigtime with the #1 greatest goal by drawing all the defense towards him, leaving alberto wide open for the slot.

occasionally, pele also breathed.
