Cart springs and an Interior made from old butter tubs.

Yeah, it IS fast and CAN make good track times, but at the end of the day, I'd rather have a 997.

o god...

this is why i HATER jeremy clarkson...

the leaf springs on the Z06 are so superior it isnt funny.

but the McLaren is the best car money ever could buy... why the hell wouldnt you want it, 2 passengers, 1 driver

there are actually 2 cars that pass it, one sounds like a pure track car, the other which it catches back up to seems like a Zonda, but i dont know that for sure.

Are you serious? There's leaf springs on z06??? I thought you only got those on vans and trucks (I'm talking post 1960 here)?

Serious?

(huge image) but thats the rear suspension.
Ah right. This is what I think of when speaking of leaf spring. Strong, simple, sturdy, not great on a track.

I suppose the transverse leaf spring stiffens the rear a fair amount, but what's wrong with regular coilovers and a roll bar (which it seems to have as well), I don't know.

Fantastic drawing.

The 'vette's transverse leaf spring is a fantastic design...it's lighter than what a comparable coil overs would be and acts as a 'roll bar' in of itself. I'd love to have these leaf springs on my car. GM can keep on using old school pushrod and leaf spring technology in my book.

Z06 greatest car ever? Seriously...?😕

rgr. These guys are on crack.

Not really, I guess maybe I should have said greatest car ever that is in reach of some of us in here.

Like I said in my opinion it's still the greatest evar, performance wise there are not too many cars out there that can keep up with it. The cars that do keep up with it or beat it barely do so, and they cost so much you could buy 10 Z06's for the equivalent.

veyron.....has to be the greatest engineering spectacle ever (car wise)

E39 M5 is a good choice

cant really decide, since theres a great car ever in each of the many categories of cars.

Use the counter at the bottom. Calculate lap time. Hes running somewhere around 1 min 48-50 in the parts I watched. Maybe the ZO6 isn't all its cracked up to be.

Edit: I'll wager a STI (at half the price) can get around Laguna just as quickly. And how about this: To put it into perspective, for 1/8th the price of a Z06, an off the shelf SS motorcycle can go around some 20 seconds faster.

Yeah keep thinking that an STI could get around there just as fast....rofl.

If you pay attention the dude driving is absolutely horrible.

Agreed. He's braking when midway through a corner and down-shifting in a corner. I was embarrased for the fellow.
I'd like to see the times of an Exige around laguna seca: it's a medium-fast course, but handling is very important on it (ie corkscrew).
I'm sure the exige would whup the z06 in a really tight course such as Monaco where it's all about light, nimble cornering, but I'd say the z06 would be stronger in longer, wider tracks such as silverstone. I'd love to see a race.

Like I said before the C6 Z06 is the best new car for the money, but the best car ever and my favorite car is the BMW 850 CSI. A truely timeless car. It will never get old.

If for no other reason than the manufacturer went to jail for selling coke.
Also because you can travel through time with it.

EDIT: Then again, if you had the coke you wouldnt need the time machine.

lol?

If you noticed, there were other sedans on the track.

Yeah, a ferarri is better than a corvette, but look what you pay for it.....
Is it really worth 5 times as much?

That depends on how you define better. If reliability is better then the Corvette wins. If horsepower and top speed are better then Ferrari wins. If gas milage matters then Corvette wins, it's all purely subjective.
