Great. Yates gets life. What a sad day.

Oyeve

Lifer
What a rip! Why should the tax payers have to pay so this misirable bitch stays alive? As a father I would nuke my wife if she ever pulled that sh!t. Now its going to cost millions just to keep this sack of sh!t alive for the next 40 yrs!

Well...the thing they'd have trouble proving is that she would do it again...but I really do think she should have gotten death

And don't forget...she's a woman

<< Capital punishment and the legal steps required to commit it cost more than keeping someone in jail for life. >>

It will cost about 1 million to keep her in jail for life. The cost of 15 new trials for every stupid attempt she makes to avoid the death penalty would run far more than 1 million (think tens of millions). Of course if we as a society could eliminate the 15 appeals and make it a reasonable number then execution would be cheaper.

Okay, Oyeve, let's kill all smokers and people who drink alcohol, too, I mean they kill people as well, right?
PLUS they cost the nation several hundreds of billion of dollars every year.
Also, obese people are even more expensive.
Let's kill those, too.

Geez, really.

So we should only imprison them for life, yes?

Well, yeah!

I thought I learned in my economics class that the obese people who die before retirement save us billions in long term medical care, social security, etc.

If that's so, then taking them out now would make even more sense 😕

Call me a monster, but you can get rid of all the ones that needlessly drain resources and I won't really care.

Why doesn't the gov't do it the Chinese way and bill the cost of the bullet to the family? It's probably painless, definitely quick, and doesn't do jack to the economy. 🙂

I'd be content w/not giving the drains any special favors...

No we have to wait for them to contribute as much social security tax as possible first.

Ah...good call. If only there was a way to make them pay up front...

Cause Then you have other things that go along with such laws like putting people to death for their religion. No thanks, I'll foot the tax bill so that we don't have to go there 🙂

<< When you think about it death is no punishment, death is just revenge, punishment is life in prison. >>

pun·ish·ment n.
[*]1a. The act or an instance of punishing.
b. The condition of being punished.
[*]2. A penalty imposed for wrongdoing: ?The severity of the punishment must... be in keeping with the kind of obligation which has been violated? (Simone Weil).
[*]3. Rough handling; mistreatment

I think they all sort of fit both life in prison and death

It is a bit too bad isn't it. But the best thing for our government's profit is to have people die in the 60 to 65. (We all want to lower taxes right so we need to get as much government profit as possible). Smoking and obesity are the best method we have for a death that is early enough to not pay for retirement and yet late enough to collect as much as possible.

Nice. And we already tax cigarettes pretty heavily. If only there were a way to tax obesity...

What is wrong with revenge? And if the death penalty wasn't a bad punishment, why would criminals fight so hard to get life in prison instead?

Um, no, it's a per-year tax. As long as they keep working (under a covered job) then they and their employer continue to pay.

As for people killing themselves (smoking, obesity) hey, why not? It is correct that the smokers drive up (early on) medical costs as well as save the taxpayers retirement benefits later.

As for the sad day, yeah, but I dunno for that reason. I didn't agree with not prosecuting her just because she's got a mental illness, and it's terrible that she drowned her children, but this woman appears to be a nut. Just lock her up. And in 40 years she can be eligible for parole.

Yeah...why isn't Yates' attorney working hard as hell to get her death instead if it's such an easy way out?

Please rephrase, I'm not following your point. We want them to work as long as possible (to collect the per-year tax). Then die before retirement. So I don't understand why you disagree with me.

Its human nature to live so we do anything to live no matter what. But if she is put to death, what will happen, nothing, she wont suffer a bit, then again life in prison she will have to live with the fact she killed her kids. Now choose, which would you pick for yourself if you had the choice?
