Great Story On How My Friend Got Fired!

One of my friends is an IT Director for a company here in Atlanta. He's not your typical executive type either. Very loud and boisterous but also one of the most genuinely funny and good-hearted people I've met.

Anyways, his boss tells him that she wants a bunch of reports on her desk in the morning at 8AM. In typical fasion, she waits until the end of the day to tell him this. This normally wouldn't be a problem because my friend is an insomniac and puts in insanely long hours and gets into work around 5AM. Unfortunately, when his boss left for the day, she locked up her office with most everything he needed to do the report with. He did what he could and kept calling trying to get ahold of her to get her office unlocked. She finally called him back at 6:30 in the morning and asked him if he had the reports done. He told her he couldn't get the reports because her office was locked and everything he needed to finish was in there. She ignored that and all the messages he left and told him he had better have the report ready by 8AM.

So, what does my friend do? He goes to her office and kicks the freaking door down! He got all the information he needed out of there, did the reports, and had it on her desk before 8AM! She freaked out when she got to work and called security. There ended up being a big todo about it and he told the higher-ups his side of things and promised to pay for the door. They said, "Yes, you will pay for the door and you're fired."

It's not that big of a deal for him because he didn't care for the job (obviously) and has no problems finding other jobs. He already has three interviews lined up for another job.

Hmm I would reward someone who did whatever it takes to get the job done, not fire him.

Seriously...I'd commend him for thinking outside the box, and I'd hit the supervisor up for the door for being such a stooge.

Sounds like 'she' (the boss) locked her door on purpose. Since she didn't care about him leaving messages re: the locked door.

If that was in California, he'd have a sexual discrimination lawsuit on his hands.😉

Just for the record, I don't believe in suing for any little thing. . . and yes I'm from Cali.

I'd reward him for KICKIN IN THE BOX!

The boss sounded like a complete jerk, though. Sounds like it's best this way, he'll have a story for interviewers... doing whatever it takes to get the job done!

Peace,
Dezign
