Great start to my Friday

Got to the parking garage today and saw a familiar truck doing a 13 point turn to back into a parking spot. Meanwhile I saw that the best spot in the parking garage was left open. I couldn't figure out why they and the other morning drivers had passed it up. Then I saw the new sign by the spot:

"Cars Only. No SUVs or Trucks"

HA! Yeeesss! I am the only car driver of the early arrivers. Some kind person in the Parking Department has ensured that I will get that spot most of the time from here on out. No more parking in the 4th or 5th best spot for me.

Haha, nice! Cars ftw.

I park normal at work but I back into my spot at my apartment (because reasons). Normally I can whip that mofo in there by pulling up to it and then out in front of it and then backing in, even while holding/talking on a phone, but sometimes I f it up. Not sure if I ever resorted to the good ol' 13 point turn though. :screamcat:

I back in at work because of two reasons: Its easier to see around concrete pillars if anyone is coming and I can get out of the garage faster.

Yeah that turn this morning....I feel like people are having a harder and harder time parking their vehicles and I don't know why

I woke up starving and had to wait 2 more hours to eat anything due to fasting for bloodwork being done.

Your's sounds better.

When I worked at the Schlumberger offices in Houston at times for a previous job, they required everyone back into the spots. I didn't mind doing it there, I kinda liked it actually.

People are just failures at driving in general, I think (not everyone, obviously, but in general). There's one guy who parks in the parking lot (there's three big office buildings that make up the complex, various companies) and he'll just zoom into the spot and shut off the car. Jee-jacked, all half ass in the spot usually. Oh yeah, it's way too hard to take an extra few SECONDS and make sure you get into the spot normally. That's for losers and plebs.

i never understand when people who live in suburbs buy huge new trucks with tiny beds just to drive them into a city and park them in a cramped garage every day.

But I have to move a thing once a year!

With how much those things cost now I think many people never actually put anything in the bed anymore. I see lots of them in my neighborhood and have never seen them used for anything other than commuting

Oil and Gas is weird like that.

I've been to Shlumberger, NOV, Exxon, and Shell - all of them have ridiculous rules like no walking and being on your phone (talking, texting, or browsing) - even in the fucking hallways of the building.

Another is if they catch you alcohol in your car I've heard they will fire people on the spot for that. Which IMO is ridiculous - I'm the type of person that buys beer pretty often, and I can see myself accidentally leaving some in my trunk or something - or even during the day going to the liquor store to get a new rare release. And when I say "have alcohol" I don't mean empty containers - I'm talking sealed beers with the cap still on.

Also backing into spaces is overall stupid IMO. It just means you suck at backing up, so you do it initially instead of when going out? It honestly isn't hard or complex to back out of a space slowly while constantly looking to ensure no one is coming.
