Yeah I had the same thoughts too about the PE deal but.

Considering the Jamos: the Fronts are 2 way, The Center is a 2 way, and the rears are full range drivers. The Sub is a good unit.

Yeah so these Jamos should be great.

Good reviews too.

Well for $150 shipped there arent many Energy models/systems that will even come close.

Jamo is a great name in audio for all that dont know. Certainly no off brand here.

If I can sell my Logitech z5500, I can mate these with my old Denon receiver.
This just might work. Thanks dood!

The fact that this/Jamo comes from a well known to design good stuff manufacturer and it is surrounded by decent L,R,C, LR, RR speakers. Add to the fact it has a 200watt (Dynamic) amp vs the 80watt of the Daytons.

Jamo is known to make very good stuff. Quality, sound, features, and product finish.

Sub Link

Dayton is good however I would take Jamo over Dayton anyday especially at this price.

Just bought em, thanks OP. One last question, will I notice any improvement in the sub if I pack it with polyfill?

Haha, if you scroll down they have a customer returned, open box for $149.91.

Why cant these be black. I know it doesn't effect sound, it would just look a hell of a lot better in order to match the rest of my setup. Black isn't worth 2x the price though.

Say no to modifying these. They are well desinged and therefore wont need any mods/stuffing.

I took apart the other thread speakers like the OP of that thread did and there was no polyfil. Stuffing them made a difference but not with a Jamo sub.

The subwoofer is bass-reflex (aka ported). If it is properly designed, stuffing it will be a bad idea, as it changes the effective volume, which changes the port frequency and the frequency roll-off. It will create a hump in the frequency response such that you will get "one-note" bass. If it were sealed, then stuffing is simply a matter of a power handling/frequency extension, which is something you can make a choice on.

Dont confuse him on effecting the effective volume by adding stuffing to the inside. Most people wont get it. Thats why i kept it simple. ;)

Dr. Who anyone. lol

Well here it goes. Some of this is subjective and some is fact as speaker designing is a science but it is also a trial and error/mystery of component interaction that is highly dependant on your hearing/listening preferences. So it is a Science and an Art.

I hope I dont get bashed by the more knowledgable here.

It changes things inside the Box: increases dampening, increases thermal conversion of the internal pressure waves, reducing or changing resonances, standing wave reduction, and should help with comb filtering which is the smoothing out of the frequency response.

As far as what the driver sees. It makes the driver see the cabinet as larger due to these changes even tho it isnt so you get a lower response curve. This means better performance. Statistically this means the Q or Qts of the speaker and its resonance frequency drops. Which means for a subwoofer a lower smoother bottom end if properly done.

Too much or too little stuffing is a factor here as well as stuffing choice.

Ok enuff for me.

I've got a ~12-year old Jamo sub that still rocks the place.

Also, a thumbs up for this deal. I owned a set like these and the sound is great! JAMO makes quality stuff.
