Great read here ppl on Thermal properties of C2D and quad core INtel chips

You can just turn off any throttle support and this won't happen. However I wish intel would make more effort to cooling. I mean you shouldn't have a system with the fan it came with throttling (unless you're overclocking anyway).

He is running at 3.2, so he is overclocking....

If the temps are under where throttling is supposed to happen, then why is it happening ????? I think this is where Duvie is going...

You can NOT turn of TM1 throttling. There is no way to do it, it's built in to the CPU. TM2 can be turned off in the bios usualy, but not TM1.

As for throttling when overclocked..my 3.4 prescott did the same thing, when I raised the Vcore, the throttling kicked in at a lower temp, looks like your quad core may be doing the same thing Duvie. EDIT: Plus being an eng sample, it may just be a bug with the chip, I had one prescott ES that was really messed up (One of the ones I tried to get working on Marks motherboard when we were trying to OC my 920 on his board.)

I think B0 just had some problems as an early stepping. IF you look for people with results everyone had about the same. I don't think you are having much of a problem, you are just getting close to the same max as everyone with 3.3 ghz. 3.6 ghz was about the best I had heard about for B0 and that was only quad pi stable.

Nvidia boards have options to turn off TM1 and TM2, but it appeared as if that didn't work. I think you are confirming what I had originally though that it doesn't work. Thanks Stevty.

Well using right mark and now 12x275 at only 1.425v set (1.34v under load) with max load temp in core temp at 67-70c I am not seeing any throttling and now F@H is getting the scores it should be based on scores at 3.2 and 3.25ghz

I will let it run there for awhile and make sure no issues and then bump it up...

I agree Yoxxy I have seen most at 3.33ghz 10x333.....I seen some above it with B0 stepping but I could run higher but Iwas looking for the diminished returns in multitasking and I dont know if they are...
