Great...my 2000 Chrysler Voyager won't start...

Just as I insert the key into the ignition or open the door, the van would make a clicking noise at the bottom left hand side. After a few seconds of clicking the light would go on. Sigh...and it only has 35,000 miles. Calling roadside assistance now....
 
Hopefully it's still under warranty. If not hopefully it's not the transmission or something expensive like that.
Glad I got a 6yr/75k warranty on my car.
 
Charge the battery. Take it to Autozone and ask for a free diagnostic for the charging system. They will tell you what needs replaced. Probably the battery as I'd guess it's the original.
 
yeah, likely the battery; either dead or the alternator may have a weird prob

one or the other is wrong with my mitsubish!t... battery or alternator, ill know tomorrow

then ill sell it, and get a moped....because cars hate me

that's usually only covered for 90days. It's considered a consumable, like tires. I bet it's the battery too, cause the ones they put in cars from the factory suck ass in most cars.

 
Consumable! Ah yes, I see the big picture now. Tires, brakes, battery, exhaust... good Lord, what isn't "consumable"? :Q
 
if it's clicking that means you have no spark....most liekly your battery or your alternator isn;t charging the battery correctly.

Yeah, the battery is the original. But the roadside guy said it should be good for 5-7 years. He thinks that it could be the relay box or the connnection from the battery to the relay box may be corroded. He said it wouldn't be the alternator since no warning lights came on after he jumpstarted the van. But after he left, the battery light came on. After I drove home and turned off the car, it wouldn't start when I tried it. Thanks for the suggestion though. I'll take it to Autozone on Saturday.

Yep that's a long time. When I bought my 93 sentra last year the thing was 8-9 years old with 140k and it had the original freaking battery in it. The battery was dead when I tried to start the car so we got a new one put in right there and then but that was a looong time.

 
5-7 years from an OEM battery? Heheh... They give the contract to the supplier that gives them the lowest price... same way for tires, belts, etc...
 
Our 1997 Voyager still has the oem battery.

I do feel like I'm living on the edge tho' ..

That's funny. I've only had the batteries in 12 years. Two were Honda batteries (AC Delco) and now whatever Kragen had (kinda crappy IMHO). I personally haven't changed the belts in the car and I don't think my dad has either. They were prolly replaced about the time the alternator failed (5-6 years ago). Who knows......

Sheesh Roger, I just laughed at that one earlier! 😀

pronto never actually said he turned the key, just "inserted the key into the ignition". He also mentioned he heard clicking when he opened the door! 😕 That must be some kind of relay, but not the one connected to the starter.

It does now sound like the alternator is the culprit. Now, is that under the warranty, or is that a "consumable" part too?
