Great moving/storage deal...

Because of disagreements with my roommates, I have to move out by tomorrow (haven't started packing yet).

I found a deal via publicstorage.com, and was planning on storing my furniture (7-piece bedroom set, queen-size bed, dinette set with 4-chairs, couch and 2 televisions) there for a month until I found a new place. They have a move-in special of $1 for the first month plus $15 admin fee ($99-180 each additional month), and if you leave after 1 month it's only $16.

I just called Budget, who offered me the same deal for storage... and a free truck! So with the free truck and $1-first-month-special, it should only cost me $16 to move out, which was much better than what I was originally expecting. :) If anyone else is in a similar situation, I highly recommend Budget!

Move to CT, I have all the free storage you could want, and a place to crash too :)

She's too young for you!

You're still getting married, right Dezign?

Thanks Roger, I could've utilized that offer a couple years back at Smith. May take you up on that if I ever make it out to the East coast again... :) I'm thinking of eventually moving to Atlanta, or some place warm on the East coast. Not for a few more years, though.

(yes, still engaged, not planning on getting married for 1-3 more years, though)

wonder what the disagreements with roommates are about.
could it be the fiance coming over too often, and being too loud at night? :)

Heh, no. More like them eating my food, complaining about me not doing the dishes (I do all my own dishes, I got tired of doing theirs and started leaving their dirty dishes in the sink), being rude to my guests (slamming doors and jingling keys when my sister was visiting and sleeping on the couch), etc. They told me they're going to be keeping my security deposit too ($600), and have penny-pinched the whole time we've lived together (note to self: never again offer to pay each month's rent in full and have the utilities in your name when living with roommates). *sigh*

Are you the primary tenant on the lease? If not it is agaisnt the law for them not to pay you your security deposit.

Unfortunately not, Sysadmin. We're all on the lease. There are 2 of them (both friends before moving in, my bad for selecting both of them as my roommates) and only 1 of me... at this point, I just want to cut my losses and move out. *cheers up a bit thinking about the Budget deal*

For one month, I'll be living downtown with the fiance and his roommate (Nupur, fellow USC Ph.D. student). They've subletted the place to other students starting June 1, so during the month of May I'll be looking for a new apartment (1bd/1ba), move-in date June 1 (hence, all the furniture going into storage so I don't have to move twice). Hopefully I can find something reasonable in the West LA area ($700-1000/month). The fiance and I are going to move in together, which should be interesting, as I've never lived with anyone before.
