GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY! Look what I found!

So, earlier this summer I cleaned out the attic at my parent's house which took a good week. Amongst the spider nests, rotting corpses, and fiberglass insulation, I found a couple boxes full of books, which my mom had tagged to throw away.

They looked pretty old so I decided to keep them in case I could get them appraised for any amount of money.

I finally got to look at all of them yesterday. Here's some of the good stuff I found:

Yes, that's a *first edition* copy of Gone With the Wind, second edition of the AA Bible, and a 1955 copy of Etiquette. There are a couple books in the pile that go as far back as 1932. Possibly one in the late 20's but I'm not sure.
Time to go run to some vintage bookstores to see if I can hock this 😀. Saving the GWtW for my g/f's sister's graduation present tho. 🙂

I imagine, used book stores, like antique stores, will only shaft you when buying those. You'll be told "It's not really worth anything", sell it to them for $20, and come back the next week to see it marked $250

The AA book should bring between 75 to 100 bucks if in good condition. The Gone with the wind depends on the printing # but most of the one's Ive seen are ~10 to 50 (excellent condition). A true first printing is probably higher and worth checking a few sources. I've seen Post books from the 40's (may be even earlier) so probably not much for that beyond a novelty/serial collector.

Good luck

I have a first edition of Cosmos by Carl Sagan. Probably not worth anything, but it makes for better reading than Gone with the Wind. 😉
