I agree with BTiLC, Enemy Mine, Ice Pirates, and Sneakers. I'm very impressed with some choices, for once. If you want to find out how well your new girlfriend handles weird, show her The Dark Crystal.

I'll toss in:

Treasure Island (1950 Disney version- really there are a lot of old good Disney movies)
Escape From New York (don't watch the sequel, great soundtrack though)
Time Bandits
